SPOKANE, Wash. - Two Washington state girls took their plea straight to President Obama after their dad was laid off from his job.
The two mailed a letter to the president at the White House after watching their father, Henry, struggle to find a new job. Now they're about to lose their home.
It's a simple letter - asking for help.
"My name is Lilian Deck and my sister and I live in Spokane," the girls' letter begins. "We would like to ask you a question - where is the help you promised in your campaign?"

He, or rather the taxpayer, may very well be paying that Obama supporter’s mortgage (if it was a subprime liar’s loan, that is).
Actually, it’s the “Catholic Relief Services” (CRS) not “fund.”
As of 2007, 94% of the money went to poor folks. Only 6% for admin., salaries, fund raising, etc.
I commend CRS for your consideration.
After all, if we wait on the liberals, I mean the Leftists, to help poor people, it’ll be like waiting for Godot.
Speaking as a newly impoverished person, I’d a lot rather people sent their money to FR — we have to help keep this place going. I think that is *essential*.
Also, if money were collected for this endeavor, it would entail a lot of figuring out who should get it, what they should get it for (do they have needs or wants?), and so forth.
Yeah, I think I’d rather any extra $5 bills folks have lying around go to FR instead. That is for the good of all of us, and our futures.
In February of this year, Gov. Chris Gregoire signed an agreement with the U.S. Department of Labor authorizing the state Employment Security Department to administer a program that will increase unemployment benefit payments by $25 a week.
My friend just received her raise of $25 and we live in CA - she called me laughing saying she got a raise for doing nothing.
I wonder how many Americans who normally might have taken upon themselves to look for work are relying on a letter or phone call from the government telling them where their pot of gold is. It's impossible to discount the idea that many people are waiting for manna from heaven i.e. government largesse rather than making their own way after listening to Obama promise them the world.
Even if they are waiting for the Head Leprechaun to hand over the gold, it won’t matter. That, alone, means they are too stupid to handle a job doing anything worth paying them for.
(Hit “post” too quickly.)
Ergo, they wouldn’t find a job even if they were looking.
The work ethic is non-existent in some people, whether they use the 0’s promises to justify that or not.
“There may be major adjustments to be made, but never give up on God showing the way, whatever way that is, that He wants to direct you to. He always has done that for me, in all circumstances, and He promises He will do that for any of those who are His.”
I agree with you, 100%. This may not make sense, but I look at it like I’ve got a front row seat to watch God’s plan unfold. It’s kind of exciting in a way, especially since I don’t see how this is going to work out.
I am expecting a miracle, even though I have no clue what it is going to be. (All I want is to do God’s will — I am not buying lottery tickets.)
What part of the country are you in? Here in Texas, while the recession has hit and our unemployment rate is high, our housing pricing is stable. While jobs aren’t plentiful, there are plenty of smaller towns within driving distance of the major metros, and you might be able to find something out of town that’s affordable and get a job in town where the pay might be higher.
Come down here on a camping trip. Texas has no state income tax, and while our property taxes are higher than some, it’s not as high as back east. We have lots of absolutely beautiful state parks that are less than an hour to ‘town’. You might as well combine the camping with a job/house hunting trip. You could stay a month and not stay in the same park twice. Texas is mighty big. :-D
Texas is where I want to live. It is my first choice state for a whole lot of great reasons, including the fact that my sister has been living there for decades. The trouble is that my husband can’t get work there — he has been trying, believe me. He has talked to contacts all over the state. I wanted to move to San Angelo, but would have been pleased to land anywhere in that great state.
and, what about the mortgage payment you are leaving behind. Once you start in arrears, it is not like you will qualify for an apartment. You need proof of income to get an apartment, and clean credit.
I really wish the idiots on FreeRepublic that are dumping on those out of work would STFU. The economy is bad, and there are a lot of us conservatives out of work too ... and the key-rap I hear being spewed on these threads does nothing to help anyone’s situation, nor does it reflect well on our views of compassion. Anyone that likes to post how stupid or lazy those out of work are, is simply trying to tell us that they are holier than the rest of us ... and no, you are not ... you are just more fortunate right now.
If you (and cookiedough, I am not focusing this on you, I just happended to reply to your post) think it is so easy to get a job right now, then tell you what, go quit your job, and then see how long it takes you to get another. See if you can support your family, or keep your house, on making less money.
Well, pray about it, and see if God will open those doors. You know, if you are waiting to have the job first, God may be waiting to see if you’re willing to trust Him and take that first step. Some one else said on this thread that sometimes you have to go out and get the interviews. I imagine it’s not very easy to get a job offer if you’re not in the state. Some companies won’t even look at your resume for an interview.
Maybe your husband could be a consultant or freelance here until he got a full time job. I just saw an ad on Craigslist here in the town where I live (which is near Dallas, in what used to be called the ‘telecom corridor’ before telecom went bust), for an office suite address, conference rooms, kitchen, mail service, etc. for $50/month! Almost anyone could make $50 a month, flipping burgers part time.
But, sometimes I really think God waits to see how much we’re willing to do in faith before he gives us the blessing. At least that’s been true for me. Sometimes, I have to stop trying to control my own destiny and trying to force my will onto His, and just let go and see what he directs me to. Maybe he wants you to come on down here, even if it’s just for camping for a while, to see what will happen. I’m sorry to say, but what the other people have said is true—your husband is probably not going to be able to get an interview with an out of state address. I just think people are unwilling to even talk to people, thinking they’re going to expect more money, a moving package, etc. There’s too many local people who are looking for work.
So, pray about it and see if maybe God wants you to come on down here and see if he opens any doors while you’re here. With gas prices low now, it’s not that expensive to drive, and here’s a link to the Texas State Parks, where you can find very nice facilities for camping, make reservations and plan your whole trip. God bless!

So he can keep sending out his daily resume from the homeless shelter. And if you’re working you can help me support him.
The pity isn’t that they are terrified and afraid, the real pity is that they believe BO can solve their problem with his socialist agenda.
Pretty much all BO has to do is make tax cuts permanent and lower the corporate tax rates so jobs would come BACK to the US and unemployment would be on the mend. But he won’t do it because he’s creating this crisis to take over as much as he can.
That’s what is sad.
