SPOKANE, Wash. - Two Washington state girls took their plea straight to President Obama after their dad was laid off from his job.
The two mailed a letter to the president at the White House after watching their father, Henry, struggle to find a new job. Now they're about to lose their home.
It's a simple letter - asking for help.
"My name is Lilian Deck and my sister and I live in Spokane," the girls' letter begins. "We would like to ask you a question - where is the help you promised in your campaign?"

I know it’s off subject but don’t you think the press works too hard to let us know how “in love” these two are? Seems the more I hear it, the less I believe it!
You forgot the most important criteria: they’re probably not entitled to ‘reparations.’
Sorry to hear your circumstances. Sometimes we become cynical and forget that these are real people facing real economic hardship. You can do eveything right and still have it come back to bite you in the a$$.
The thing I have a problem with are the attitudes many folks have in expecting government to "help" them (I'm speaking in general and not to you personally, of course). The government is the reason for these economic problems. It's like asking the person responsible for robbing you to give it back. It's either the government or the market... there's no other option.
Our side needs to persuade the people of this country that *they* are the bosses of their own prosperity and The State needs to back off. Our GOP has been unsuccessful in conveying ideas that promote freedom for the individual. They need to get their *hit together quickly. We need to win in the "arena of ideas" as I believe Rush calls it.
Move to where the jobs are dumb@$$.Where is that? all the jobs in D.C. are taken.
This is what the story says:
“”We didn’t have a subprime mortgage - we had a regular mortgage,” says Henry Deck. “When we went and asked for help, there is none. We don’t fall in the guidelines.”
“I made too much money two years ago - I don’t make enough now. We just fell through the cracks,” he says.””

It sounds like 2 years ago he made too much money to receive government aid (which was paid for by his tax dollars, too). Now he doesn’t make enough to qualify for help to save his house.
Maybe I’m reading it wrong, but it doesn’t sound to me like Mr. Deck was rolling in the dough, living a life of luxury before he lost his job.
Too bad the reporter didn’t write a more informative story, so we’d know if the guy was worthy of vilification, instead of assuming he must be.
Why make these assumptions? Do you think that you have total control over what happens to you, and thus so does Mr. Deck? I hope you don’t find out the hard way that sometimes bad things happen to people that are not of their own making.
Let’s assume something positive: That Mr. Deck has been paying taxes out the wazoo for many years. Do we look down on him for needing and asking for tax-paid government assistance? Or is assistance reserved only for those who have never paid taxes in any appreciable amount?
This country isn’t in trouble because the ordinary Joes ran up their credit cards, bought boats and McMansions, and took vacations to Europe every year. People who did that, I’ll wager, are a very small percentage of the population. I have never met anyone who lives like that and I think I would have if a large percentage of people did.
People are getting rich from destroying the U.S. and its people (or trying to, very hard). It isn’t the ordinary Joes.
I’m really sorry for your family’s struggles. Have you considered moving to a lower-cost small town somewhere in rural America? Your older boys are almost old enough to work, and even with jobs in retail stores and restaurants, your family could work to make enough money to afford an inexpensive house in a small town. I’ve seen large older homes for sale in smaller towns for dirt cheap. You could fix it up yourself, and maybe even make some money on it in a few years if/when the market ever turns back around. But, hey at least you would have a roof over your kids’ heads.
Sometimes people need to rethink their idea of what it means to ‘get by.’ I don’t think camping all summer is a great idea. Kids need stability, and while it might be fun for a few weeks, all summer would be a waste of time you could be using to get jobs and get into another house. Even if the foreclosure makes buying impossible, you might be able to find a landlord who needs some handyman work done on a house he owns and would be willing to work with you on the rent in exchange for some work on the house. Think outside the box. Get creative.
Do what you have to do to make your kids feel secure and like they are a part of the family’s solution. Look to the small town, particularly college towns which always have thriving economies because of all the money being spent by college students.
Good luck.
He’ll take care of it right after he pays that supporter from the campaign’s mortgage and gases up her car.
Cookiedough,
You and your family are in my prayers. Hang in there!
Dear Lilian,
Losing your home is just the first step in my plan to undermine American industry and the economy in general.
This is necessary to ensure all Americans are dependent on the government for their livelihood. The goal is to become a beloved member of the world community and transfer our wealth to other nations. We must allow India, China, and other 3rd world nations to pollute freely in order to develop their economies, while Americans languish. Only by destroying capitalism and confiscating the wealth of the productive members of society will we be able to expedite this conversion to a global community. Have no fear, you will always be free to do what we allow you to do!
No, camping all summer is not a good idea. I just came up with it last night. It is a better idea than living in a homeless shelter, a cardboard box, or the car. :-) Other than that, of course it doesn’t have much going for it as an idea, especially when the campsite is on a friend’s land in Vermont.
I have been looking at rural areas. I have to do it online, though, which is not very productive. We can’t afford to go anywhere to look around in person right now.
My boys have offered to get jobs, and tried to. There are too many applicants for jobs requiring unskilled labor, so they have been unsuccessful. Right now, they are mad because so many of those applicants were illegal aliens (90% of the foreigners in our area are illegal according to the organizations that help them).
I looked at the requirements for being able to get food stamps, figuring to save on the grocery bill and stash that money away — but we make too much money for that. Then one of my sons got the applications for the free lunch program at school — we don’t qualify — and I was mortified by that.
I figure it this way: It is in God’s hands. We are doing *everything* we can, and things will work out. I’ve gotten past fear and mostly past depression. Now I am waiting to see what unfolds, while doing everything in my power to make this work out.
Thank you very much. I cannot express how much I appreciate that.
A We Understand More Than You Think bump and ping
What color are they? Are they a minority. Oh, I get it, they were a family that for years had been supporting the career welfare, bums, and illegals. They had been doing everything that is right. The father “WORKED”, “PAID TAXES”. That’s why they can’t get help now. You have to realize that Obozo was not raised in America. He hates the American way. He’s just another foreigner in a long list that comes here and hates us the rest of his life.
I think that we freepers that are working need to get together and send what we can to the freepers who are not. If hundreds sent $5.00 a month or more, it would help a little. Any ideas?
Possibility of filing for legal separation from your husband, would at least get you to receive food stamps. Some people I worked with have done this with a little success. We will pray for you and yours.
I just can’t bring myself to do that. Neither can DH. I can understand why people do that, but we are not that desperate yet.
Don't they know their Messiah is on a whirl-wind tour of Europe? He can't be bothered with peons back home while he's apologizing to the masses, and selling the country down the river.
I have no idea of how to engineer that, and to tell you the truth it sounds like a good idea that is fraught with difficulties.
