Why did someone like Feldkamp own abortion clinics?

Posted on 04/04/2009 8:45:51 PM PDT by utahagen

I have been reading about the Montana plane crash that killed two daughters, two sons-in-law, and five grandchildren of Irving "Bud" Feldkamp, who owns a string of abortion clinics in California. I am not interested in debating God's role in this catastrophe; I have no idea why (beyond scientific reasons) this plane crashed. What I would like to hear is freepers' theories about why someone like Irving Feldkamp would own abortion clinics. Am I the only one who thinks Feldkamp is a very unlikely person to get involved in the abortion business? The Feldkamp family is wholesome, devoted to each other, and church-going. Their children attended religious grade schools and they all were active in their churches. I know that Seventh-Day Adventists' position on abortion is (softly) pro-choice, yet it still seems bizarre that a Christian family man like Feldkamp would deliberately profit from abortion. Does anyone out there have any theories about this?

He is a business man, same as those who have traffic in slavery, or prostitution or any other social ill.

For some people, at the end of the day money trumps morals.

Do he and his wife have anyone left to enjoy it with or hand it down to?

Just because I sit in my garage all day doesn’t make me a Chevrolet, neither does warming a pew in a church, and sending my kids to a Christian school make me a Christian. Only God knows his heart, He’s the only one you can’t fool with pretenses. This man paid a terrible price for his killing business. I wonder if he’ll continue to run the business after this?

This man has no conscious, or he has successfully managed to rationalize his behavior (i.e., it’s just human tissue). And, of course, there’s the money.

I know that the love of money is the root of all evil. However, most of the people involved in the abortion business are from very screwed-up backgrounds and travel in circles where it would not be considered shameful to profit from abortion. Feldkamp seems to be happily married and very close to all his children and grandchildren. Plus, he's an active Christian who was prominent in communities where, even if most of the people describe themselves as pro-choice, abortion is viewed as unseemly (at best). I am a miserable sinner who goes to church every week and I can tell you that anyone who owned aboriton clinics would NOT be treated like an upstanding citizen in my church. SOmeone like this would be constantly urged to repent and get out of that business. Also, how did Feldkamp remain in the aboriton business after one of his grandchildren died two years ago? I am NOT implying there's a connection between Feldkamp's abortion dealings and this little boy's accidental death! I am just asserting that suffering usually softens peoples’ hearts and makes them focus on what really matters in life. How could a heartbroken grandfather have continued to profit from first and second trimester abortions?

“The Feldkamp family is wholesome, devoted to each other, and church-going. “

You are sadly mistaken in what you believe. A man/family cannot serve the Lord Jesus Christ and belong to the Satanic death cult of abortion. Their going to chruch to ask forgivness was a ruse and meaningless.

God doesn’t forgive him.

Sounds like everyone here knows his motive even if they never met him or know nothing about him.

Perhaps he felt that abortions are going to get done whether he is involved or not. So by getting involved, perhaps he could provide the type of counseling that would not get done at other abortion clinics.

Perhaps he prevented abortions. Perhaps he was able to show women there is a better way before they decided on an abortion.

Assigning false motives is as much a sin as abortion. And in Romans, Paul puts gossip right there with adultery and fornication.

And that’s bad news for most posters here.

What you say makes little sense.

No one who really thought that abortion was evil would want to own a chain of abortion clinics and take that kind of sin upon himself.

I don’t know him or his family, but that much is obvious.

As for his family, some of his children may have married strong Christians, or may have experienced conversions. But it doesn’t sound as if he was one.
