The Illinois congressman, 27, is getting attention from paparazzi and politicos, and he's prepared to take full advantage of it.
BY JAMES OLIPHANT
Reporting from Washington -- He is the Republican Dream Date, a smooth-speaking, polished product of Illinois, as comfortable with Facebook as a face-to-face. John McCain's daughter gushed over him as the future of the party. He blogs for the liberal webzine Huffington Post, which said he sports the best abs in Congress. TMZ trails him like a pop star.
And he is two decades younger than Barack Obama.
Aaron Schock, 27, hasn't wanted for attention since being elected to the House of Representatives last fall. He has bounced from Stephen Colbert's show to CNN, and his own videos go viral on YouTube.
Much of the interest stems from his unlined face and full head of brown hair. (He recently brushed aside a suggestion from Howard Kurtz on CNN that he take off his jacket and show his physique for TMZ, which had asked Schock to compare his abs to President Obama's.)
Schock offers an alternative to GOP tent poles such as Sens. McCain of Arizona and Mitch McConnell of Kentucky and House Minority Leader John A. Boehner of Ohio.

I'm perfectly happy with Mark Sanford, Jim DeMint, Michele Bachmann and others...who usually vote against unconstitutional items.
a lot of republicans voted for that bill
That doesn't make it right, unless you adhere to moral relativism or are willing to disregard the Constitution.
Sounds like they want to shove this wonder boy down our throats like they did McCain.
I’d like to see him explain this.
along with half of the republican representatives right
Do you have a crush on Mr. Schock? He certainly can do no wrong in your eyes.
did you or anybody else on this this stupid thread do a search on how US republican house republicans voted on this bill?
If they’re for him I’m against him.
And what if the Congress all of a sudden decided to pass legislation taxing all of your income at 90 percent and confiscating 90 percent of the contents of your bank accounts, just because you took the standard deduction or personal exemption on your 2008 tax return?
What Congress did to AIG and TARP recipients was illegally impose an ex post facto law that retroactively changed the legal status of a particular private action, namely the payment of previously agreed upon bonuses to various employees of private corporations that had later accepted "bailout" money (the provision of which was itself unconstitutional) from the Federal Government.
Ex post facto laws and bills of attainder are explicitly forbidden by the U.S. Constitution in Article I, Section 9.
Any and all Representatives who swore oaths to defend and support the Constitution and to "well and faithfully discharge" the duties of their offices regardless of party affiliation and yet still voted to affirm the aforementioned ex post facto ought to resign, as they are unfit to serve as Federal elected officials.
Of course, in the age where it's okay to violate and run ramshod over the Constitution, according to both parties, then hey, if Congress can pass ex post facto laws without the executive branch, the judicial branch, or the electorate themselves checking the power of Congress, then Congress can also summarily restrict or disparage the individual citizen any of his or her rights as defined in the first Ten Amendments.
But hey, most of the Republicans voted for it, as you say, so it must be okay. Behold, the wonders of democracy, mob rule, and moral relativism! And you dare to call yourself a conservative... /sarc
then i guess its up to you to run 3rd party candidates who are more conservative than republicans good luck
you are singling out this one representative when it seems half, including the republican leadership, voted for it
misleading at its best
You were saying?
You forget that quite a few folks here are conservatives first and Republicans second, when they're not too scared to deviate from the party line and stop voting for the LOTE.
you are singling out this one representative when it seems half, including the republican leadership, voted for it
Well, that says a whole lot about the RINO Party, now doesn't it?
so half of the republicans in the us house of reps are now rinos? I just want you on record
I never said they were RINOs. However, they were stupid enough to vote for a unconstitutional Democrat-sponsored bill.
it seems there is a lot of stupid to go around
Stupid is as stupid does.
