That must be why his officers stood around for an hour outside the building, making sure it was "safe" before they went in. Gotta make sure all the killing's done before we get out the chalk.

I’m sure we’ll hear the gun control debate revived as a result of this, and that nursing home shooting in NC last week. And we may see more security at public buildings.

Wonder where non-terrorist, fake-name using, non-IBM employee, ‘lone’ gunman got body armor?

The police didn't know that. There were still people alive and hiding in the building, and they didn't know if the killer was alive or dead, yet it took them an hour to decide to go in and check things out.

xjcsa, then you would suggest that the police ought to be outlining the bodies in the midst of gunfire?

The police could be passing off the chalk as they in turn tumbled to the floor!

Haha, if the police are so useless that that's all they know how to do, maybe it's just as well that they waited until things calmed down. I guess I was thinking more of going in fast to take out the shooter, but that's more easily accomplished with guns, rather than chalk.

The police could be passing off the chalk as they in turn tumbled to the floor!

It sounds like the town wouldn't be any worse off that way, in terms of having a useful police force.

All the more reason to fine hone placement of shots.

Skills many people neglect. Or cannot perform because of lack of ammo, range time or costs.

I suggest the idea of at the very least consider a video game like the Wii that you can actually aim physically to train the arm to naturally point and shoot.

Frontier shooters relied on speed and accuracy, the quick and the dead.

The bills already written.. stockpiled and ready to go! They can't let a "good crisis" ever go to waste.. They disgust me.

Not exactly, one of the first shot....

...Zikuski said the injured receptionist stayed on the phone for 90 minutes, “feeding us information constantly,” despite a serious wound in the abdomen....

Apparently, she is still in critical condition - prayers for her.

Here is how that decision matrix goes. If you arrive and there is gunfire then you have an active shooter. Get the first three guys that show up and move in. If you arrive and there is no gunfire, but you think there are hostages then you wait for SWAT.

This attitude might change when we start getting terrorists in this country that take hostages and wire a building with explosives.

Either way the police will get the blame.

Or a 12 ga slug to the chest - knock him down, knock the wind out of him. Keep putting rounds on target - he isn’t going to be aiming, he’s barely going to be breathing...

From a newspaper article:
http://www.nbcnewyork.com/news/local/4-Shot-at-Civic-Association-At-Least-40-Held-Hostage.html

Greene said that he had asked Wong — who also used Jiverly Voong as an alias — whether he liked the New York Yankees.

“He said, ‘No, I don’t like that team. I don’t like America. America sucks,” Greene said, adding that Voong’s penchant for guns was well known and that the alleged killer often practiced shooting at range.

So this man did not like America he stated according to Greene that we suck my question is why is he hear and the article also, states that he came from CA back to this area of NY so I am wondering did he work for IBM in CA and get layed off? Because it states he worked at a Shop Vac place.
Being the first generation American in my family this really bothers me that some would state they hate us and than cause harm and the article continues that he was disrespected............I have people who disrespect me all the time it is part of life so now we will have the President blame us in Europe for everything, and than come home and blame the evil “white, blued eyed” (not my words the Spanish President) that we are the cause of these deaths because we didn’t respect him. Frankly I am getting alittle sick of the blame game. No one is forcing anyone to stay here we all at least now still have free will and I am sorry not all of us are going to make $250,000 a year or more some of us will be blue collar, white collar, factor, office people.
