Cut middle out for excerpt, left beginning and end, and a few teasers. Still worth clicking and reading the full account.
Great read about some of the issues US Citizens go through when they are the victim of crime in Mexico. Not only from the Mexican government, but also our own.

Why do people even go to Mexico these days let alone fly a private plane down there ...

Interesting, Craig’s staffers blew them off, it seems. Someone who had been in office awhile. Get ahold of Sali’s people, and they help, someone who hasn’t been in office long.

Should have added I have a nephew that goes down there all the time, I always tell him to have his will current before he leaves and the life insurance policy made to me.

Actually, besides Craig (if someone had jumped to the front of the line to the bathroom he would have been all over it), we have some legislator’s in Idaho who do care about the little guy. At least they tried. Not like Fat Jack-ass Murtha.

Why do people even go to Mexico these days let alone fly a private plane down there ... Twenty-Five years ago the FBO I flew for prohibited any of our aircraft from going to Mexico for any reason. Of course, I was the one who made that rule...
No one in their right mind who knows anything about the place would take such an asset there. It would be at risk the entire time.
There are more stories to tell, but it would fill a book. This guy should feel lucky to be alive, that's all.

Well maybe when he gets his new plane hijacked he’ll learn. Maybe.

I've only crossed the Big Pond twice, once to Italy and once to England, and never gone to Mexico. Nevertheless, whenever I go outside of the U.S., I treat my passport as physically a part of me and am constantly paranoid if I can't touch it at any time. These folks really blew it by putting their passports in a backpack.
