We here in Arkansas demand you stop using the name “Redneck”. From here on we will be referred to as “Appalachian-Americans”. We find it “offensive”.
I wish we could get to the Magnolia newspaper but it is online and requires registration with a subscription. They have more info but not enough to know the story from their website.
It seems the two women were sisters and the man she attacked was her nephew her sisters son. Nothing I’ve read indicates what relationship they had with the deceased.

How RUDE!
Never show up for a funeral with only one beer.
Must be bad manners there not to show up with the whole six-pack. No wonder there was a brawl, everyone fighting over one beer.

Or, alternatively, "dentally-challenged."

when i die, i also would much rather my family and friends celebrate the good times we had together, and celebrate life, while they can enjoy it.

My prediction: If mugshots of any of the involved parties ever become available, they will all be "extremely, ferociously and unequivocably guilty"
Ping just because.

My mother died in 1981 of leukemia. She knew well in advance that she was dying and was at peace with it. She planned her own funeral including scriptures, songs, who she wanted there and who she did not want there. One of the things that was most important to her was that there be a party afterward — including 3 cheers — to celebrate her life and the knowledge that she was going to heaven.
I read once that one measure of a successful life is a standing room only funeral. I guess that would be ok but I’m my mother’s son... I just want there to be enough beer to go around at the after-party.
I highly recommend it, along with a glass of good whiskey. In fact some of my friends have specified it in their last wishes. I was simply asking for clarification as to which of the acts (drinking and or fighting) you had engaged in at the same funeral.
OTOH, I have found that some people do see it in bad taste to drink at the funeral of someone who has been killed by a drunk or died of cirrhosis of the liver.
— and don’t you forget it!
