A gunman opened fire at an immigration services center in downtown Binghamton on Friday, killing as many as 13 people before authorities found him dead, officials said. Gov. David Paterson said at a news conference that 12 or 13 people had been killed.
A law enforcement official said the body of the man believed to be the gunman was found in an office of the American Civic Association building. The official was not authorized to speak publicly about the details of an ongoing hostage situation and was talking on condition of anonymity.
The gunman barricaded the rear door of the building with his car before entering through the front door, firing his weapon, the official said.
It wasn't clear whether the gunman was included in the number of dead provided by the governor.
The Binghamton Press & Sun Bulletin reported that citizenship classes had been scheduled Friday at the center.
The Binghamton SWAT team responded, and the FBI was sending hostage negotiators and an evidence response team to the scene. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives was also sending agents to Binghamton

Maybe he was fired from IBM because his work papers had expired or weren't in order. Or was he a citizen? I hadn't heard that he was or wasn't. I thought IBM was laying people off. I wonder if there was a problem with him being here legally and that's why he went there.
Right now there is a populist backlash growing within IBM because it is believed that IBM is getting rid of US employees and sending their jobs offshore.
This may be a case of a populist backlash actually leading to violence. Maybe this will take the starch out of some of the folks who are using populism to further their egenda...because by doing so they are creating hate.
They see the US as a failure and are seeking to remake it. Unfortunately, there are dramatic consequences to this kind of social engineering, as is possibly the case here.
As I watched the live coverage of this at noon central today, the obvious solution to so many of these shooting sprees again came to mind,,,,one good decent armed citizen could have taken that killer out, just one good man or woman with a concealed carry weapon could have saved all or most of those lost innocent lives. Those poor souls were sitting ducks, as all gun toting criminalsl know, easy pickings for killers. We all know the solution, yet the governments of most states will not stop persecuting law abiding gun owners who want to be able to legally conceal carry. One good armed citizen in there, would have kept those innocent souls on earth, now they are gone. The press will vilify the gun. They should vilify the liberal gun grabbers who make only the criminals safe, and the innocent as lambs at the slaughter. Prayers for all the victim’s families and friends. What a horrible horrible crime.
THIS is why I don’t get the whole terrorist business. This is ONE guy and look what he could do. We all know it is very feasible to have hundreds of these same type who have gotten in this country across southern or northern borders.
Yet we see nothing....except video of them running around in the desert playing bad guys.
Not only that...a martyr is a martyr. Infect one with something biological and let them go shopping in a big mall in a big city.
Yet we see nothing.
WHAT are they waiting for and WHO is pushing their buttons?
I just don’t get the logic of it.
BUT, ACCORDING TO DIANE FINESWINE, BABS BOXER, CHUCKY SCHUMER, ET AL – OOOOO – GUNS ARE SOOOO DANGEROUS!! In what may be a perverse form of population control, these MORONS – many of whom are themselves armed or have armed people around them -- would prefer us to have to call 911 – and DIE while the cops are en-route.

According to the latest news, the suspect was a fired IBM worker. He killed people taking citizenship classes.
IBM uses H-1B visas.

Recently, I was talking to a Russian immigrant woman and she was telling me that her husband was given an engineering job and was building a beautiful new home on 10 acres of land. Must be nice to have government put its arms around you.

They are also in the market (supposedly) to buy the biggest India outsourcing company, so that would give them political cover for moving ALL services jobs to India, China, or wherever they can get someone to show up for ~1/6th of what a US employee is paid.
They have freely admitted that they do not want to be identified as a US company. They are an "international concern", which means they want to suck every dollar/rupee/pound/franc or whatever out of every government they can.

Dude, are you kidding me?? An armed security guard or extra detailed LEO would be perfect in that environment. These assclowns only attack areas where they know the citizens will be unarmed. Gun Free Zones= Victim Rich Environments!
