George W. Bush had a similar approval rating at this point in his first term, and he only got 49% of the electorate to vote for him.

At one point Obama was in the very high 60s.

I'm with you on that line of thinking. I need to see him go below the percentage that elected him. Then we know he's in trouble. But that isn't showing up so far.

On the whole 56% is not very high for presidents at this point in their term. His strongly disapprove numbers are starting to accumulate.
