In a symbolic gesture, French President Nicolas Sarkozy says he will accept one terrorist suspect being held at the Guantanamo Bay prison camp.
France opposed the Bush administration's decision to open the prison at the U.S. naval base in Cuba after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
President Barack Obama has decided to close the camp by next year. He says its existence does not make America safer. His administration is reviewing what to do with the more than 200 prisoners being held there.
One option is to send some of them to U.S. allies, such as France.
Sarkozy said Friday that he would take custody of one prisoner if asked because France opposed the prison. Sarkozy also says he would do it because that's what it means to be a good ally.
“He says its existence does not make America safer. His administration is reviewing what to do with the more than 200 prisoners being held there.”
I suggest we return them to their maker, or their version of hell, whichever is more convienent and faster.
I think we should airmail them back to their host countries—from about 30,000 feet.
Another Obama miracle.
Don't the French have a lovely little island off the coast of French Guiana where this fellow can retire to?
