So the man whose closest brush with a real job was as a community organizer in Chicago fired the Chief Executive Officer of what was once the largest car manufacturer in the world - General Motors - Monday.
Richard Wagoner, as a condition of GM getting more bailout money from the community organizer, was told the only way the money would be forthcoming was if he resigned. So he did, putting the interests of GM ahead of his own.
There's not much question that Mr. Wagoner made some terrible mistakes in his nine-year tenure as head of GM. Some were his own doing, and some were forced on him. But his firing by the community organizer was not based on those mistakes; it was based on politics. The community organizer needed a scapegoat, and Mr. Wagoner was handy.
In all the stories about this massive expropriation of private sector duties, responsibilities and rights by Barack Obama, nowhere do we find the name of Ron Gettelfinger. And who is Mr. Gettelfinger? He's the president of the United Auto Workers, and has been since 2002. As such, he is at least as responsible for GM's slide as Mr. Wagoner, and probably moreso. Was he fired? Well, no.
Why? Well, for starters, the UAW has more then 430,000 members, and they vote (and their dues are used by the UAW to elect Democrat candidates and pursue left wing causes). It's no secret that last fall they voted in huge numbers for Barack Obama, and UAW spent millions to make sure others did as well.
Back in December, Gettelfinger criticized Mitt Romney's suggestion that the best way for GM to survive was to take Chapter 11 bankruptcy rather than have the government provide a $17 billion loan to keep the company afloat. Gettelfinger's response: the UAW supported a "bridge loan" bailout from the government, and said, "It's a bridge loan that's going to be paid back by (GM)."
Tuesday was the deadline (set last December as part of the $17 billion bailout deal) for GM's submission of a restructuring plan to keep GM going, but that plan never really materialized because its key element - cutting costs by cutting workers, closing plants and reducing union pensions - were opposed by Gettelfinger and the UAW. Now, unless GM can (under government management, and what are the chances of that?) turn things around in the next 60 days, the company will do what Romney and plenty of other people in the real world - that would be the private sector - recommended: take bankruptcy. Bankruptcy, of course, will now result in cutting workers, closing plants and reducing union pensions. The $17 billion is gone, Wagoner is gone, but Gettelfinger remains. So does the community organizer's double standard.
Gettlefinger fired Wagoner (who was no AP Sloan btw).

Actually, I would like to see The One give all of GM to Gettlefinger and the UAW. Give all, 100%, of the seats on the board to the UAW. And the CEO spot to Gettlefinger.
Not only would giving the means of production” to the workers be a nice socialist touch, it would put the UAW in a scary spot. If they want to keep their pensions, pay, and benefits they would have to find out how to make cars that people want to buy for a price people can pay. And, when the whole mess goes under, they will know exactly who to blame.
It is time to fire Barry.
There will be no financial recovery until he is out of office.

Right off the bat this article is biased against Obama and makes a huge error. Obama’s closest brush with a real job was making cones at 31 Flavors as a teen.
It was the greatest contribution to society he has ever made, and will ever make.

I still go to the idea of investing all of the UAW Pension and Slush Funds into GM...let’s see that money at work!
It should be no surprise that it happened in this manner. People with common sense predicted this outcome. Giving money to continue a failing business would likely result in continued failure. It was a plain stupid idea to not implement Romney's recommendation. Now we are deeper in debt without a prayer's chance of ever recovering lost taxpayer dollars.
What is next? Just think of the most stupid option or options. The disordered minds of our government will most likely implement those options with our money.
Fire Obama!
