RAMALLAH, West Bank (AFP) — The vast majority of Palestinian youth are depressed, but do not believe that violence is helpful in resolving the Middle East conflict, said a UN report released on Tuesday.

"More than 80 percent of young Palestinians are depressed and 47 percent identify themselves as Muslim rather than Palestinian," the United Nations Development Programme report said.

"Depression was more marked in the Gaza Strip, where 55 percent said they were 'extremely' depressed," it said.

Sixty-nine percent of those questioned "believe that the use of violence as a means to resolve the conflict is not very helpful, while only eight percent believe it is an important tool."

The vast majority of Palestinian youth are depressed... said a UN report released on Tuesday.

I know it's only April 1st but THAT is the funniest thing I've read so far this year. What would we do without the clowns at the UN? I think those jackasses have gotten their depressions mixed up. Bozos.

I’d be depressed to if I had been told to follow a failed ideology.

Yeah, life in a death cult can do that.

Everyday I get depressed just living under Hussein’s regime but I still live my life regardless. Or maybe they are depressed because they ran out of rockets to launch into Israel.

Maybe we could find a spare $20 billion or so to fund a pali psychiatrist program (with comfy couches) so they can find their inner selves.

Dear young Palestinians: They want you to be depressed. In fact, they are depending upon you to be depressed. Who are they? Why, the entire Arab world. The last thing they want is for you to be happy and get a good job and love your neighbors. You know, make something of yourselves. Besides a bomb. A happy Palestinian is a useless Palestinian. Reuters photographers won’t take pictures of you if you’re happy. Europeans won’t give you millions if you’re happy. Obama won’t hire you as telemarketers if you’re happy.

Here is the next booming market for pharmaceutical manufacturers. Prozac and Valium for the depressed suicide bomber.

Now they can all die with a chemically enhanced smile when they target innocent women and children to slake their blood thirst.

No other country wants them. They were given land by Israel and they ruined it. Mayby Meleril and thorazine? It’s their problem. Nobody else’s.

Should be happy, and count their blessings: they might have been born as female Palestinians.

If I were prescribing for these poor misguided terrorists, I’d actually suggest large doses of warfarin, but that’s just me.
