The silver metallic may be a bit much for daytime, but it beats the heck out of the Disheveled Argyle Disaster she had on yesterday.
Anyone else get the sense that the bar for fashion sense and decorum has been lowered for the Obamas internationally. I almost get the sense that they are praising them a bit patronizingly. Then again, maybe I’m out in left field.
Hi, stayathomemom! Long time no see! Take that calcium, lady!
Too bad I’ve not yet won the lottery...it’s gorgeous!
If any of us slouched, my gran would sneak up behind you and karate chop you between the shoulders and tell you to sit/stand up straight! To this day, slouching really gets on my nerves.
Plus, slouching makes your gut pooch out.
No, it’s not flattering at all.
She gives me an air of trying too hard. I get the impression she is wearing clothes and behaving in a way that she thinks is “fashion forward” and “edgy”, but she lacks the poise to pull it off. IOW, she doesn’t really like what she is wearing either, but is trying to create a look.
She needs to get with the Jay’s from America’s Next Top Model for a couple of days.
“Michelle, you have to *commit* to the look!”
“Michelle, you are *NOT* America’s Next Top Model. You must go back to the house, pack your things and leave immediately.”
Remember, too, that Jeremiah Wright was HER clergy of choice and I am sure she sat there nodding in agreement with his statements and “sermons” over 20+ years. This speaks volumes about her real personality.
She is not going to change her inner core. It is firmly established, and the the underlying themes are hatred, resentment, and revenge.
It is too bad that Obama didn't find someone more in the line of Condi Rice, who is a true intellect and is the epitome of class. Additionally, Condi never had a chip on her shoulder. She carried herself with dignity, unlike Michelle, who simply doesn't have it in her. Condi represented the United States with true professionalism and always knew how to dress for any occasion. She was and is a class act.
But, alas, we have Michelle.
From Us magazine online in August:
Which potential first lady does Project Runway judge Tim Gunn think have better style — Michelle Obama or Cindy McCain?
“No contest, Michelle,” he told Usmagazine.com at the Tide and Downy’s Fashion Care launch at the Empire Hotel’s Pool Deck in NYC Tuesday.
“She epitomizes class and American style,” he said. “She looks approachable.
But Gunn thinks McCain needs a makeover.
“Cindy, on the other hand — with her button-down suits and blouses — looks like she’s duct-taped,” he told Us.
“Her fashion is a metaphor for her personality,” he added.
The "I'm a slattern and proud of it" look has been very popular in Europe since the 60s for anyone presently younger than 60. I was completely appalled at the second wife's clothing at Luciano Pavarotti's funeral, even though she was his 34-years-younger homewrecker trophy.
Even the rock'n'rollers showed up in black suits and had run a comb through their hair, although Bono's wife was showing plenty of boobage under her suit.
Wow...just wow. That is awful!
Maybe she was trying to telegraph that she was too distraught to bathe?
She is too big of a woman for these designs, IMO. The patterns and frilly details are too bold and come off as garish. She needs to rely more on classics and ditch this pimped up wardrobe.
Everyone in that photo (#446) looks uncomfortable, except The Messiah...
ROTFL!
She epitomizes class and American style, he said. She looks approachable.
That fuschia (marroon?) dress in #452 is an improvement, but not for daytime... it looks more like a cocktail dress.
Good catch! But as I said in an earlier post 390, the gay community thinks fashion is appropriate for Washington, but people with brains in Washington are about style, not fashion.
So I would say Tim Gunn should only address the underwear issue. I saw him make over a fat girl on a makeover show, including taking her to an underwear store, and the transformation was startling.
Better for evening, minus those ugly sleeves.
Oh, the drama! Imagine wearing that to your own husband's funeral, in a cathedral, no less. With the socialists, it's all about meeeeeeeeeeeeeee.
Condalezza Rice wore some incredible things (she had some phenomenal shoes and boots!), but she always looked very tasteful.
You can wear cutting edge things, but still have some class. If she had on a grey suit with some lacy trim on the skirt and a more bold blouse or scarf that would have been better.
You can do classic without being stodgy or matronly, is my point. She doesn’t seem to think it’s possible.
Michelle looks like a mental patient most days. She seriously needs to ditch the dresses and go for skirts and blouses.
OMG! That dress doesn’t even fit properly!
