Oh, G-d. The purple silk whatever it would be called — a top — it’s awful. The skirt is okay, I guess, but when you’re short-waisted as she is (I am too), you can’t wear some of this stuff.

Is the sleeveless tank and black skirt something she wore last night at Downing street? It looks just like what she wore to meet the Queen today..... ????

Yes, you wear a dress to visit the Queen.
Expecially if you are the Present of the USA's wife.
Even if it is the real Queen of England---Elton John---and you are a man or a woman.

I recall a few years ago during a Bush family visit with the Queen, one of the Bush twins was wearing blue jeans and flip flops. Do you have a link to that story? I have serious doubts as to its veracity.

And if they really cared about the environment they would have all stayed home Of course. They could teleconference, if any of these putzes really had some useful contribution to make.
(especially Obama) since he should be taking care of the employment & financial mess.
On the other hand, maybe we're better off if he stays gone.

The Queen always carrys a bag. It’s a signal to her ladies in waiting or whoever—when she shifts it to the other arm, the interview is over. Or so I’ve read over many, many years.

That’s too bad - he’s always been a character, and a remarkably good sport about his position.

On the other hand, maybe we're better off if he stays gone. That would be nice as long as he is spending his own money on 'staying gone'!
Both of the Obama's act like they have a 'secret joke' between them every time I see a photo of them. Like 'I guess we showed them' attitude. They certainly aren't very humble about where they are.

Thanks but I grew up in the 1950’s and I cringe at some of the things we wore as fashion. For example, I well remember hoops being in fashion for a very short period of time when I was either in high school or junior high. I can also remember how they popped up when a girl sat down! I have thought about trying to find some of the black and white shoes, whatever they were called. Really liked them! Oh, and how can anyone forget penny loafers or when flip flops came into fashion and hearing them plop down the halls. The teachers should have told us not to wear them. Oh, and girls did not wear pants to school but all of those crinolines. Can remember starching them heavily to make them stand out more. Boy, those were the days. I still have a formal I wore in high school. Does not fit anymore but at least I have it! I think 3 or 4 relatives wore it after I did but I did get it back. Wow, paid a whole $35 for it. Was pale blue with tiny lace ruffles all down the skirt and was strapless. Wonder what I should do with it. I love some of the music from back then, too. In fact, one of my favorite stations is bostonpete.com which has a dj playing old cowboy western music. Oh, remembered the shoes, saddle oxfords! Do they still make them?

You, too???
My favorite sundress was a pastel striped under dress, covered by a dark green jungle voile that allowed the colors from underneath to show through. Loads of crinolines and strappy sandals for an evening at the Muny Opera in Forest Park. A little summer evening bag, and I was good to go with a shawl for late in the evening when it grew cool. I felt like the Duchess of York. ;-)

I agree! Let him stay out of the country as long as he wants!
