President Barack Obama today nominated a key U.S. Senate staffer to serve as assistant secretary of the Army for public works, a position that oversees the Army Corps of Engineers.
Jo-Ellen Darcy is senior environmental policy adviser to the Senate Finance Committee, where she has worked on energy, environmental and conservation initiatives using the tax code. Earlier, she served as senior policy adviser, deputy staff director and staffer with the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee.

A political appointment to stop all new building development. The Corp has a lot to say about what is a wetland and how or if land can be developed. She will make sure virtually nothing gets developed.
So they are putting an enviro-whacko over the ACE, which has jurisdiction over a massive amount of our waterways...
I love the fact that they think it is a resume enhancer to create environmental policy through the tax code.
I for one have to say that I think it’s a great idea to prop up unsustainable business practices and punish profitable and desirable businesses using our tax code, don’t you? [/sarc]

so....she’s not an engineer....and apparently she’s never been in the Army.....her bio says she has a Sociology degree from Boston College with some greenie boutique Masters from Michigan State....whatup with THAT??
She isnt there to oversee anything, she is there to cancel anything that comes through that doesn’t match the Dictator’s green agenda.
And the Republican Party response was to accuse the Obama Administration of hiring people into positions of power for which they are not qualified to hold which will result in further harm to the nation’s well being.
