Clinton was narcissist, all right. But he was more of a pragmatist and less ideologue. (Besides being a policy wonk who could and did talk policies without a teleprompter.) When his leftist attack failed, he was pragmatic enough to use Dick Morris's triangulation, and together with the Gingrich republicans did some good.
