GREENPORT, NY — A Rhinebeck man was charged with second-degree harassment by Greenport Police Wednesday after allegedly confronting anti-abortion activists at the entrance of the Upper Hudson Planned Parenthood on Route 9 in Greenport.

Jake Freedman, 20, was pulling into the reproductive health care provider’s parking lot with his girlfriend and mother at about 11:15 a.m. when he confronted the activists.

“Words were exchanged,” said Greenport Police Officer Joseph O’Connell. Freedman then allegedly exited his vehicle swinging a cricket bat. “Nobody was hit, but two signs were damaged,” O’Connell said.

Freedman also pushed a protester into the roadway, according to police.

One of the activists signed a complaint against Freedman

So this guy attacks some peaceful abortion protesters with a cricket bat forcing one of them into a major roadway (Route 9, Greenport, NY). He is charge with harassment instead of assault.

Now comes the really weird part. The same newspaper sourced in this article runs an editorial on Tuesday. And their take on the incident? You guessed it; they castigate the peaceful abortion protesters and not the nut with the bat.

Yes, Shield the children from images of the murders their parents are committing against their unborn brothers and sisters.

Notice the anti-male hit in the article. No surprise.

Gotta' love that hypocritical wording.

...Children at the age that still think the opposite sex is icky. Right, is that why you teach them about transgendered parents in K-6th grades? or have "age appropriate" sex education as young as 6 and 7? or that "gays" are normal and it's ok to be "gay"?

How many times have you editorialized in a news article? I'll bet you gave it to 43 without respect to "shock" value.

Oh, Theresa, is this you?

"They have cricket bats in New York?"

I wondered what the hell and American was doing with a cricket bat then I saw it was New York

I guess Jake doesn't realize that if his mother pulled into that lot 21 yrs ago Jake wouldn't be here now.

The editorial is full of doublespeak:

Protecting children=ripping apart the unborn in secret

Avoiding the "birds and bees talk"=avoiding talk of death

Becoming a better neighbor=becoming invisible if you do not agree with liberals

It is also pretty bizzare to read a phrase in a newspaper such as: "nor are we suggesting that the First Amendment only applies to some people. But..."

Liberalism is pretty bizarre. It has a VERY selective view of natural, human and Consitutional rights.
