GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- A 4,800-calorie burger offered by a minor league baseball team this season has been branded a "dietary disaster."
The 4-pound, $20 burger features five beef patties, five slices of cheese, nearly a cup of chili and liberal doses of salsa and corn chips -- all on an 8-inch bun.
Staff dietitian Susan Levin of the Washington-based Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine sent a letter to the West Michigan Whitecaps on Tuesday. She's asking that the monster burger be labeled a "dietary disaster" that increases the risk of cancer and heart disease.
Whitecaps spokesman Mickey Graham says the team hasn't considered a label. He says the burger is a gimmick promoted as a very unhealthy menu item.

So they shouldn’t eat it.
Frickin useless worthless empty shell second-hand people who can only complain about what other people are doing.
Sounds like my boss..LOL
Sounds like my boss..LOL

I have a label for her already.
P.S. I’ll bet she is fat.
I understand the suggested serving is to cut it up into 4, 6 or 8 pieces. Sounds like a party sub to me only round. And fairly delicious
If that’s a dietary disaster, then gimme my FEMA trailer!
We ought to ban arugula in honor of our favorite Kenyan
But if I get it with lettuce, isn’t it good for me?
I like rocket....screw the Kenyan.
So are lawmakers going to get busy passing a LAW that outlaws the production, sales or consumption of said burger as a FELONY offense...all for our own good, of course.
I would imagine that this thing is sold as some kind of promotional joke.
I don’t think most of us need a doctor or a liberal idiot to warn us against eating 4 pound burgers very often.
If anyone buys it, I would imagine that they’d split it up among 6 or 8 people. But the point isn’t to sell a lot of these monsters. The point is to get publicity and notice.
..then they shouldn’t eat it..
Jeeze.. do they really think people don’t realize that a monster burger is crap for your health?
Just like with any vice, overeaters should educate themselves on what overeating does to the body, analyze why they are overeating, and then weigh health against whatever perceived pleasure they believe they are getting from eating too much. And with that resolved, make a decision to moderate food intake or not.
That burger should be on the “Lite / Heart Healthy” menu, until the get several bacon strips on it.

A bunch of know-it-all do-gooder’s that probably wouldn’t know a stethoscope from a proctoscope. They are probably all supporting BO’s health care plan.
Dietary Disaster Burger has a catchy ring to it. If I am unfortunate enough to end up in MI this summer, I will definitely catch a Whitecaps game and grab a burger.
