Under Wagoner, GM gave big to GOP

Under ousted chief executive Rick Wagoner, General Motors and its political action committee gave twice as much to Republicans as they did to Democrats.

From 2000, when Wagoner took over the Detroit-based auto-maker, through the end of last year, GM and its PAC contributed $1.7 million to Republican candidates and committees, compared only $815,000 to Democratic ones, according to a POLITICO analysis of Federal Election Commission and Internal Revenue Service records.

I have a hard time feeling sorry for Wagoner, considering his begging and groveling for welfare.

Did they think their new partner wasn’t going to have a say in their operations?

That’s why Wagoner has lost his job, whereas the head of the UAW, which gave 100% to the Dems, still has his.

Another not-so-smart business decision.

GM also bought advertising on Rush’s program.

I don’t think the bailouts should have been given in the first place, but the one that GM got came under Bush, with certain agreements and contractual understandings. Government takeover was not among them.

Bambi simply imposed his own “understanding” of the contract. Personally, I think somebody should sue; the government is not, to my knowledge, the majority shareholder and I can’t see how it can force GM to do this.

Ahhh, that splains a lot of things.

Meanwhile Dodd, Frank, Pelosie, Boxer........ list too long,
go under the radar once again.

What is the key word here?

DEMOCRAT

Needs to be asked by every single individual in this country. Or put another way: "A government big enough to give you everything you want is big enough to take it all away." Goldwater

When you make a deal with the Mafia, it’s hard to be surprised when they change the terms!

I don’t have any sympathy for any of the TARP banks/AIG, GM or Chrysler.

Ridiculous. Who was president in 2000? They gave at a 2/1 ratio to the party in power. All the big businesses do this.

Now the trial lawyers and the unions—do they split their money anywhere close to 2/1? Does the ratio change depending on who’s in office?

The author of this piece ain’t too politically savvvy.

Well, well, well.

GM management was hoping the GOP could break the stranglehold UAW had on their company.

Obama is now giving political payback.

Wonder what industry is next on Obama’s list. Perhaps “big oil.”

On a side note does anyone know if now that GM and AIG are partially owned by the Government they are prohibited from making campaign contributions?

Well, I never thought I’d live to see the day when our government could be excused by being compared to the Mafia. Bambi has definitely defined deviancy down.

The real reason. No slight goes unpunished in the new fascist administration.
