Milli Vanilli was a duo from the late 1980s and early 1990s who rose to superstardom but were forced to give back a Grammy when the public discovered that they didnt sing their own songs.
Universal Pictures even optioned a Jeff Nathanson script on the Milli Vanilli story to make into a motion picture.
In a similar inauthentic vein, a rep for American Idol has admitted reluctantly that the group performances on the show are lip-synched, according to The New York Times,.
Meanwhile, President Obama, who seems to be overly attached to his teleprompter, recently conducted an Internet town hall meeting that smacked of showbiz sleight of hand.
The event had been promoted as open to any and all citizens with an Internet connection.
But questioners called on at the event by Obama included: a member of the pro-Obama Service Employees International Union; a member of the Democratic National Committee who campaigned for Obama in the Hispanic community; a former Democratic candidate for the Virginia House of Delegates who endorsed Obama; and a Virginia businessman who was a donor to Obama's 2008 campaign.
So the virtual deck was stacked with supporters whose questions would give the president the opportunity to launch on his preferred message of the day.
An unsubstantiated source indicates that Obama has plans to leave his teleprompter at home and instead lip-synch his next town hall meeting.
Speaking of theatrics, another Hollywood remake is coming soon to a multiplex near you.
A Planet of the Apes, Superman, The Manchurian Candidate, Titanic, or Psycho redo?
No, its a 21st-century feature film version of The Three Stooges.
Two real-life stooges of Hugo Chavez will be in it. Sean Penn is all set to play Larry, and Benicio Del Toro, Moe...

Oh yeah - milli vanilli the perfect analogy!
No, but it has a name...HAL
Geez, I think you just described about 535 people who work in the Capital building in Washington, DC.
But the bottom line is that they could sing. They were very talented. I saw a documentary on the whole story. THEY COULD SING. But the handlers wanted quick success and knew the equation. They were innocent boys from a Haiti I think? Jamaica? That’s not the point. They did what they were told ... welcome to America.
Oh yea...terrible, terrible story because they were very nice boys who took some very bad advice.

But they were KIDS! They had greedy handlers who were telling them what they were doing was cool - they grew up too late to keep from killing themselves when they realized otherwise. Obama is NOT only 18 or 19 years old and he knows exactly what he is doing.
They have a big screen monitor directly under the tv camera. Last week he had an address and the MSM were bragging that there would be no teleprompter...well another TV camera did a pan across the audience during the address and POW right there directly below the center camera was about a 36-40 inch monitor!
I just looked it up..they weren’t from the islands..they were from Europe, but the story is the same. There is actually a movie being made about them.
I was calling him President Milli Vanilli late last year, before the whole “teleprompter” thing came out.
A Milli Vanilli president....that’s a good one
>> But they were KIDS!
There are mistakes that we can make, even as “kids”, from which we cannot easily recover. Defrauding the public is one of those mistakes. They sought fame — and fame turned into infamy.
>> Obama is NOT only 18 or 19 years old and he knows exactly what he is doing.
Agreed. So did they.

I was unaware of that. Sad.
All of these entertainers are phoneys.
They all lip sync during concerts because they sound worse than a truck full of scrap iron going down a dirt road.

Lip synching during concerts is one thing — prentending the album is your voice when it isn’t is something else entirely. With all the dancing and jumping around during concerts — it probably helps the performance for some people to lip sync to their own recordings.
Milli Vanilli was lip synching to a recording of someone else’s voice.

What you hear on the radio or on a CD in essence isn’t really their voice anymore because it’s been run through many computer enhancements and mixed dozens of times to make them sound good.
The 'public' had very little to do with it. It was more the Grammy nominating committee covering it's collective butts. They had to know about it beforehand, too. It wasn't an uncommon practice then, and I suspect it still goes on to some degree.
The whole thing is Seros manipulation—he bought the White House to remake the nation into his vision of the Worker’s Paradise. Lets all hope he fails. Maybe Obama will wake up and become his own man. I fear, if he doesn’t tow the line and say what the telli prompter says he will be, one way or another, eliminated. Obama is as much a prisoner as we are. May God help him do what right for America and not what his puppet master tells him to do.
You think it still goes on to a degree now? Are you kidding me? Ever hear of Britney Spears?
