Fascist economics: You can have a "private" business, operating in the "free market" and if the CEO annoys the government, the government will fire that CEO and replace him with someone more willing to follow the dictates of the Central Planning Committee.

Taxes can be aimed at specific industries (tobacco taxes just went up) or at individuals who work for specific companies (AIG bonuses). Don't get out of line, or you will pay. Likewise, companies that are pleasing to the Central planning Committee will receive taxpayer funds in vast quantities.

Our economic system is pure Fascism now. Businessmen who still feel like they are in charge of their business are fooling themselves. The government is simply choosing to let you feel that way. For now.

GM WAS a private company. Once they took bailout money that was more that what the company was worth, based on the stock price, they became a ward of the government.

GM’s management will long regret getting in bed with the Obama administration. This experiment, government trying to run a corporation, will end in failure. Think Trabant.
