The economy's gone bust, and so have they.
Scores of professional New York women stripped of their six-figure jobs are now working as "gentlemen's club entertainers" at upscale Manhattan jiggle joints. Former Wall Streeters, fashion executives and real-estate agents are pole dancing and strip ping for as much as $1,500 a night -- but also because they like the flexible hours.
Randi Newton, 28, who lives in Midtown, was a financial analyst at Morgan Stanley before the crash but was fired.
"A few nights after I got laid off, I went with friends to a strip club to get drunk and forget my unemployment troubles," Newton said. "The manager offered me a job as a dancer. I thought it was different. And fun."
"It was very odd seeing a strip club being better run than a major brokerage firm, not to mention I've never had problems with sexual harassment at Rick's," she said.

There, fixed it
This is the second story I've read this morning where the woman resorts to taking a demeaning job as the economy tanks.
Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
Peter Feinstein, owner of the Sapphire Club on East 60th Street, which opened in January, said, "I am receiving a lot of applications from women who recently lost their jobs -- in particular New York City real-estate agents."
Says a lot about the sort of job skills that were sought by real estate brokers back in the boom times.
“It was very odd seeing a strip club being better run than a major brokerage firm”
Sad, but probably true. Awful indictment of the ivy league egg heads at these brokerages.
I’ve been to Rick’s in Houston and New Orleans. Primo entertainment.
Mr. K, the women at Rick’s won’t perform sex acts for any price...or at least any price in my range.
Some pharmaceutical reps not too far behind I bet.
Barbie and Ken art majors = drug rep for some firms.
I’ve never had problems with sexual harassment at Rick’s,” she said.
One would think she wouldn’t have that proplem when working with the higher educated people at her last job guess joe six pack may be smatrer after all.
"Known for their athleticism, postage-stamp skirts and persuasive enthusiasm, cheerleaders have many qualities the drug industry looks for in its sales force. Some keep their pompoms active, like Onya, a sculptured former college cheerleader. On Sundays she works the sidelines for the Washington Redskins. But weekdays find her urging gynecologists to prescribe a treatment for vaginal yeast infection."
You are right on the mark - did some work at major pharm
company few years back. There was a sales meeting, full of
beautiful woman. One of my co workers joked about how
they got their job - all passed the “wall test”. Line’em
up and walk across the room, first ones’ boobs that hit
the opposite wall get the job...
Sad but true, must are bimbos....
I appreciate “Amateur Night” at the “gentlemen’s” club, as much as the next guy.
Just not sure I want to make it a nightly event.
Getting paid to dance semi-nude for men to watch is a sex act.
Ivy league educated whores...now there’s something you don’t see everyday (or do you?).
“Ivy league educated whores...now theres something you dont see everyday (or do you?).”
Why, yes. It’s called the State Department.
Too funny.
Thanks for the coffee on the monitor and keyboard!
This kind of stuff goes on all the time, perhaps particularly so with positions that have been (and still are) male dominated.
