I choose the teachings of a loving Father that uses the family to teach us how we will live in the life after this life.

So is it the God of the Bible that teaches the family how to teach you how you will live in the life after this life?

Or is it a loving father, who now is a god, but used to be a man?

The God of the Bible, not the God of the Bible scholars that cannot agree on what God is.

And yes, I believe you are following one of the teachings of some good man who studied the bible and got a different answer from another good man who also studied the Bible.
