First, for the record, I waved goodbye to organized religion a while ago.

I have read through the Mormon devotionals quite a few times and frankly, as an ex-Christian, I saw much that could be filed under “holier than thou”.

I think all religious posts should be disallowed, or given defined sections of FR within which to post away from the main public traffic.

It will always end badly. If not just because someone is going to feel slighted, ignored, abused, etc.

“Holier than thou” is a built-in factor in all religion. It’s like putting Betta fish together. Eventually, it will go sour.

Another atheist who wants religion banned. Is there any group that hates more than atheists?

It thinks it is superior becauseit stopped believing in God.

Proudly proclaims itself as a former christian like it’s a badge of honor.

And wants religious talk banned.

How disgusting.

Just like the communists. Atheism=communism.

but freerepublic is a conservative website.

Liberals hate organized religion because they want the govt to take care of everybody, not the churches and other faith based institutions.

The Mormon threads are almost always posted exclusively the Religion Forum. You don't need to read the threads.

Want “holier than thou?” Re-read your post, then look in a mirror.

Holier Than Thou is built into all religions? What an odd thing to say. If you mean that they all think they’re right...well DUH! If that is your definition of the phrase, I would have to say that virtually all human groups have that built in. Republicans? Democrats? Mother’s Against Drunk Driving?
Why would you belong to a group (or believe in a religion) that you thought was wrong?

Self-righteousness is the exclusive property of no religion. It can be found in as much abundance among atheists, agnostics, and former religionists as it can among Catholics, Mormons, and fundamentalist Christians.

I stay clear of the religion-tainted threads at FR not because I have a low opinion of religious belief, but because I have a low opinion of religious conservatives who cannot see that attacking each other they are advancing the liberal agenda in powerful ways.

And that’s all I’m going to say about that. Out of here.

FYI, true Christianity isn’t about RELIGION, it is about a RELATIONSHIP with Jesus Christ.

If you don’t like seeing the RF threads, there is any easy solution. Do not click “everything” on the sidebar.

The common denominator in all religions, including atheist, are humans. (which is the cause of the problems.)
It is SAD that God isn’t.

Interesting about Betta Fish, I have a 55 gallon Tank with two female Betta living happily together. (Maybe it is because of their gender. ;) )

That statement would be funny if it weren’t so fascist.

“Holier than thou” is a built-in factor in all religion.

And atheists, environmentalists, and liberals too.
