New Mormon anti-freeper site and campaign to bankrupt FR
rumor mill | March 29, 2009 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 03/29/2009 2:35:03 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

I understand there is a new anti-freeper site started by disgruntled former and present Mormon FReepers and it is their intention of bankrupting FR during the coming Freepathon by withholding their donations and disrupting our activities. Well, all I can say is, if they feel that badly against FR, by all means they should withhold their donations and drop out of FR. But it they attempt to disrupt our operations I will guarantee they will no longer be members of FR. If that is their wish, so be it.

I'm not going to try to defend FR from their claims of religious persecution, but I will say that Mormons have and always have had free reign to post their threads on FR just as all other religious groups have enjoyed. Free Republic defends the right to freedom of religion and has always welcomed religious discussion and always will. And Mormons have always been welcome here. I have absolutely nothing against Mormons.

If you are one who has left or is leaving, I wish you well, but disruption of FR is not welcome and will not be tolerated.

And this is not the first time such activity has been attempted by groups of disgruntled former FReepers. Good luck with that. There is always some group that feels FR should be bent to their way of thinking and end up saying my way or the highway. Well, I don't know about you, but I'm not changing so I guess it's the highway. Is it Feb 8 yet?

God bless.

Whoo hoo!! I’m on the “The list of known Mormon-haters on FreeRepublic.com” list, too!!!!

The fact that you consider this an honor is disturbing.

I actually DO consider it a bit of an honor.

Not that I hate Mormons, because I do not, but because I contend for my faith and I witness to them. Christians who have converted from Islam in the Middle East call their scars of torture and bullet wounds “Medals for Jesus”. I see it along those lines.

I am a former Mormon and have been released from it’s chains by Jesus Christ. I will not have a “live and let live” attitude about them because I DO care.

FR provides an opportunity to discuss our differences and for that I am very grateful.

Many people use buzz words that sound right but give a false image.

So what he posted is true, you also just dispute the words he used?

They may be "buzz" words to you, but I don't see the false image.

It seemed to me that it was quite descriptive of the teachings, only stated in an unsophisticated manner.

Whenever I go to my comment page many times I have to comb through his stuff before I can read things from normal people

Perhaps you should notify the poster that you are claiming is not normal

I know how you are about truth and honesty.

If someone called you abnormal, I imagine you would like to know.

A better question for you to ask is how well does what you teach really represent the teachings and history of the LDS Church, and how much of what you teach leads people into false ideas.

Well, being as I am not going to get a simple answer to my simple question, I will ask you this:

How well does what you teach really represent the teachings and history of the LDS Church, and how much of what you teach leads people into false ideas?

Perhaps as it is a question you approve of, you can give me an answer.

Evading the question is fine though, I will continue to accept that practice.

If you actually read the accounts of ex-Mormons instead of snickering at the apostates, you will find many heartwrenching stories. Many lose all ties to their families when they make the jump. It is quite sad when you leave the hive.

I have, and spoken to some in person.

Not always, but very often, the person decided to give all that up instead of changing his life to live a part of God's teachings.

I do a good job of it, even though there has been a time or two that I learned where I was wrong and corrected what I teach.

I gave it up when I discovered it was a fraud.

As do I. I'm number 37, I believe. Just for posting his picture here... along with his bad hair job.

Actually, I've said very very little about Mormons. I have praised them a lot for their courageous stand on prop 8, and criticized evangelicals for not being as active. Only to be accused of being a Mormon but some of the people on this thread. bizarro.

I joined this Church when I found it to be true.

Heavenly Father really cares enough to guide us with His Prophet.

Yeah, we have secret handshakes and magic underwear...

Oh wait, that's not true.

We have secret milkshakes and Magic Johnson Jerseys?

Oh thanks a lot guys, I've been in stealth mode.

LOL

Actually I think it is because I use reasoned discourse in my posts about Mormonism.

I think they realize that many of us understand the inner workings of their religion and they don't want to “shake the anthill” so to speak and see too much knowledge of the intricate history of their organization revealed.

That's my answer, and it doesn't mean much, as there are many here that are as familiar, and even some much more so, with the teachings of the LDS ideas, writings and "prophetic" pronouncements over the decades. (Many of which can not be found in more recent "editions" of some tomes.)

I did spend a great deal of time at a Mormon church, mostly because they had an indoor basketball court.

It's amazing what you can learn while shooting hoops...

It was embarrassing at times when my pack of cigarettes would fall out of my shirt pocket.

I think they used to have a rule about smoking.

That is a question you need to ask.... yourself.

Wasn't that a great question handed to me?

They wouldn't answer my orginal one, simple and straight forward as it was.

So I asked the one they suggested!

Thanks for seconding the notion...

Jim, I hope you can now see the level of hatefulness that is directed toward Latter-day Saints on your site. That was my only intent. We're not organizing a boycott. I have no political agenda. I just wanted to boil the pot a little and let you see the hate. We don't deserve it. I'm done with it. I hope you'll take some action to remedy the situation and see that all religions are treated respectfully and that you won't let Evangelical Christians spew hate and intolerance of others.””””

What a hateful and intolerant thing to say about Evangelical Christians.

He must be an ANTI-Evangelical

I’m sorry this happened. I’ve honestly never paid any attention to what religion anyone is on here, it doesn’t matter to me one single bit. I highly doubt they can disrupt FR donations. The rest of us will just donate a little more. It’s probably a handful of people that got pissed because some don’t care for Romney.

You do not show an understanding of our teachings, and you are teaching others things that are wrong.

I can see why you think Father's Church is a fraud.
