New Mormon anti-freeper site and campaign to bankrupt FR
rumor mill | March 29, 2009 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 03/29/2009 2:35:03 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

I understand there is a new anti-freeper site started by disgruntled former and present Mormon FReepers and it is their intention of bankrupting FR during the coming Freepathon by withholding their donations and disrupting our activities. Well, all I can say is, if they feel that badly against FR, by all means they should withhold their donations and drop out of FR. But it they attempt to disrupt our operations I will guarantee they will no longer be members of FR. If that is their wish, so be it.

I'm not going to try to defend FR from their claims of religious persecution, but I will say that Mormons have and always have had free reign to post their threads on FR just as all other religious groups have enjoyed. Free Republic defends the right to freedom of religion and has always welcomed religious discussion and always will. And Mormons have always been welcome here. I have absolutely nothing against Mormons.

If you are one who has left or is leaving, I wish you well, but disruption of FR is not welcome and will not be tolerated.

And this is not the first time such activity has been attempted by groups of disgruntled former FReepers. Good luck with that. There is always some group that feels FR should be bent to their way of thinking and end up saying my way or the highway. Well, I don't know about you, but I'm not changing so I guess it's the highway. Is it Feb 8 yet?

God bless.

Well I do not make a derogatory statement about Catholic so I am stilled puzzled

Nor other faiths...

And the anti never identify their faith that way they are free from any comparisons or being called on not following their doctrine...

This attack is a one way street it is a neat trick!

There are a few that, even after being corrected, are not careful about the truth when teaching others that the LDS Church is wrong.

As I have told you before, I am not the arbitor of fact, truth, logic, etc.

And as I have told you before, learn something from the Catholic Freepers. No matter how many times they deny worshipping Mary there will always be those who insist that they do and so they stay prepared to answer the claim every time it comes up.

[but what do you find disturbing? I can’t think of anything that is that out there when compared to other mainstream religions.]

How about the idea that men can become Gods and rule over their own planets? Can you not see the potential for abuse?

And just what did I mention that isn’t, or hasn’t been a practice or teaching of the Mormon church?

P.S. I'm not a Mormon.

A lot of us have immediate family members who are, and some, like me, are 5th and 6th generation Mormons.

We do not have hate for Mormons (if anything we have pity on them), but most of us know the spiritual and emotional dangers of MORMONISM. We all grew up in it. We thank God that we were delivered.

Amazing Grace..... I once was blind, but now I see.

A few minutes ago, Mr. West posted a comment on his blog. As I do not wish to join his little group, I will respond here:

There are over 800 organized ministries and parachurches that are dedicated to the destruction of our religion, all while selling anti-Mormon books and videos for a profit.

So what? One does not justify bad behavior by pointing to other peoples' bad behavior.

Besides, these anti-Mormon ministries may be dedicated to destroying Mormonism, but I have faith that they will not achieve their ends. Don't you?

The public should be aware that these exist. Then, most reasonable people will realize that we are undeserving of such calumny.

Well, I don't know about that. Some reasonable people might be uncomfortable with the idea of publishing an enemies list.

I'm just shining a light into a dark place. If the hosts of Free Republic don't like what they see, I didn't put it there. I'm just pointing out what is there.

As I said before, Free Republic allows us to respond to our critics. What more could you ask for?

Every day, five or six antis start up provocative threads with the intent of defaming the Church. They summon around 50 others to their aid when one lone Mormon defender speaks up. They use the forum rules to dominate the discussions.

One lone Mormon defender should be able to deal with 50 or more, because he has the truth on his side. Don't you think so, Mr. West?

All I'm doing is showing that it is intentional, ongoing, and who the parties are that do it. The ADL and B'Nai B'rith do the same thing. They simply publish where anti-Semitic activity is ongoing and who's behind it. S.P.A.M. does the same thing.

But to what end, Mr. West? What good does it do to publish a list of supposed anti-Mormon posters? What use are we to make of the list?

We are really not a threat to anyone, but if they are ashamed of their actions, perhaps the publicity will make them reconsider the unimpeded practice of anti-Mormonism.

Let them say what they will, unimpeded. As I said before, the our opponents keep us on our toes while presenting us the opportunity to declare our message. In my experience, they do far less harm to the Church than thin-skinned Mormons do.

Like Rush Limbaugh says, I'm just a harmless, little fuzzball.

You, sir, are no Rush Limbaugh.

I posted the most recent threads above, somewhere.

I saw those threads. There was nothing hateful or venomous in those threads. I asked you for a specific example of someone being hateful or venomous against a specific Mormon.... other than against Joseph Smith or Brigham Young or any of the other false apostles and Prophets of MormonISM.

Being a Catholic with the Eucharist is like living in a tiny, crappy apartment with a wife who loves you. Nothing else in the apartment but the wife matters, and she’s the entire world.

Great symbolism!

Mormonism has attacked the Catholic Church. It claims that all authority was removed from the Church and that the entire world fell into apostacy. Mormonism claims that all Protestants are in effect Apostate Catholics and as such have even shakier legs to stand on.

When Mormons leave their faith after discovering the many lies and cover-ups, the fantasy and deceptions, they most often will leave religion and God entirely. Most ex-Mormons become Athiest or Agnostic. I myself was agnostic for almost twenty years except when I dabbled with astrology, or new-age mysticism.

I as blessed beyond comprehension that the Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, bent down and breathed life into my dead soul. I doubt if even a Eucharistic Catholic could imagine the depth of surprise, gratitude, love and surrender I feel.

Thank you for your invitation!

Actually, Resty is correct, & I can't count how many times I have caught many here who claim to be ex-members, w/ family in the church, w/ long term ancestors in the church, etc., who don't really know jack about the church as has been proven here w/ rebuttals.

There was even a guy here recently that had a tete-a-tete w/ Comeuphigher that claimed to have served in a Bishopric that obviously had no idea what he was talking about, thus giving the impression he had never served in a Bishopric as claimed. Both of us would know better.

Mostly what I see here is Mormons posting their beliefs and "anti-Mormons" (as they are venomously and hatefully referred to by Mormons) posting documents from the Mormon Apostles and Prophets that might better explain exactly what it is that the Mormon Church really teaches or what they really used to teach.

I mean who should we believe about what Mormonism teaches, a bunch of anonymous freepers or the past and present apostles and prophets of the Mormon church?

FWIW I was taught some really weird stuff back in the 1960's while I was a Mormon, but today most Mormons will attempt to publicly disavow much of what I was taught to be "gospel".

I took the liberty of bolding some of your post.

While reading this thread I too had the word "anti" jump out at me as an attack on those that respectfully post comments using reasoned debate to communicate with the Mormons here.

I too experienced teachings from the Mormon church in the last century that they now deny were taught.

Fortunately I still have some of the books.

Thanks for your post.
