New Mormon anti-freeper site and campaign to bankrupt FR
rumor mill | March 29, 2009 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 03/29/2009 2:35:03 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

I understand there is a new anti-freeper site started by disgruntled former and present Mormon FReepers and it is their intention of bankrupting FR during the coming Freepathon by withholding their donations and disrupting our activities. Well, all I can say is, if they feel that badly against FR, by all means they should withhold their donations and drop out of FR. But it they attempt to disrupt our operations I will guarantee they will no longer be members of FR. If that is their wish, so be it.

I'm not going to try to defend FR from their claims of religious persecution, but I will say that Mormons have and always have had free reign to post their threads on FR just as all other religious groups have enjoyed. Free Republic defends the right to freedom of religion and has always welcomed religious discussion and always will. And Mormons have always been welcome here. I have absolutely nothing against Mormons.

If you are one who has left or is leaving, I wish you well, but disruption of FR is not welcome and will not be tolerated.

And this is not the first time such activity has been attempted by groups of disgruntled former FReepers. Good luck with that. There is always some group that feels FR should be bent to their way of thinking and end up saying my way or the highway. Well, I don't know about you, but I'm not changing so I guess it's the highway. Is it Feb 8 yet?

God bless.

Okay - I guess I missed class on that day - what is “clown posse”? A website, or...?

I know about the rap/rock group “Insane Clown Posse” - do not really care much for their version of music.

FYI, I am going to check into this with extreme detail. I suspect it is started by anti-Mormons to propel their constant hijinx, because I notice that none of the ‘usual’ anti-Mormon Freepers are commenting on this thread. I will have the name of who runs that site by tonight.

I'll spare you the trouble. The site is run by the ex-FReeper spamlds.

However, I think a more important question is why should Mormons be put into a position to have to defend themselves.

Perhaps you may want to convey this same question to LDS missionaries as 60,000+ visit Christian homes telling Christians, with a smile, mind you, that they're "apostates." (Why do all Christians have to defend themselves against this charge?) I recommend to all that they be very hospitable to such LDS missionaries.

When they visit, ask them to open up their "Scriptures" & read Joseph Smith's first vision outloud, especially verses 18-21. Then ask if your particular church body qualifies as a sect that is "wrong," 100% full of "corrupt professors" with 100% creeds that are an "abomination to the Lord."

My point is if Christians have to daily defend themselves at their porches & front doors from these charges, then a much, much smaller contingent of Lds can deal with a few hundred or thousand electronic exchanges. (Let's keep things in proper perspective)

As a long time Mormon FReeper, this is the first I've heard of this. If anyone has a link, do share! Jim has been nothing but great for Mormon FReepers, and also FReepers of other faiths. Hmmmm.... Not sure about Muslims though... ;-)

As for Romney, he is damaged goods at best, a Mass. liberal at worst. Not a good track record. Gov. Palin or Jindel is a much better pick for those who believe in small, limited gov't and promotion of good moral values in the public arena.

God Exists and he is a Mormon...

Even God would take exception to that statement.

ha,I’m married 31 years

I’m happily RE-married. I’m pushing 30 between the two of them, anyway.

Pikers.

My mother remarried about 2 years after my father passed away and is still living and still married, combined total of the two marriages - 72 years.

You can say what you want about Romney plan but he was a class act no sour grapes etc.

Those of us who walk that path strive to do the right things no matter how much sometimes others are so nasty and ruthless!

I hear tell that drinking really hot stuff increases your throat cancer risk.

I hear tell that lukewarm coffee is essentially cold by the time one gets to the job site. At the time of this case, the reaction was to sell coffee that would not be acceptably hot 10 miles down the road. I know because I was around in that time frame.

I'll bet that a heck of a lot more than 700 people complained about cold coffee after McDonald's (and others) overreacted to this famous frivolous case.

A number of folks here weren't buying coffee back when this case occurred. To those of us that bought our daily cup of McDonald's coffee, it was a farce. We always expected coffee to be hot, and until this took place, it was. We had enough sense to handle it properly - this lady didn't, and the result of her actions was to punish the millions that did NOT burn theirselves on hot coffee. There was a period of time right after this case when it was difficult to find a hot cup of coffee.

His first posts as spamlds were on march 16th. At that time he posted the material I cited here

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/2217619/posts?page=322#322

Where he came to FR with the expressed purpose of “kicking the hornets nest”
In follow on posts to his blog, he invited FR LDS to join his group.

At this link
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-religion/2207127/posts?page=28#28
He further states he was trolling to document anti activity at FR by instigating discussions.

He bragged about his trolling back on his blog site that I intercepted and posted here

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-religion/2207127/posts?page=53#53

Here he insulted and tried to get a Freeper drug to his crypt for a ‘debate’
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-religion/2207473/posts?page=167#167

RM took action here
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-religion/2207473/posts?page=221#221

From a post on his blog he lied about his activity here (posted by alex murphy)
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-religion/2207473/posts?page=235#235

The RM made it clear here
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-religion/2207473/posts?page=251#251
the reasons behind his zotting:

“It is not uncommon for posters who have been banned or quit in indignation to develop an anti-Free Republic attitude and to express themselves on other websites. But they must not then come back here trolling for more fodder for the other website.

Likewise, it is asking for trouble to go to the safety of another website and hurl personal insults at Jim Robinson, the Moderators or other Freepers. “

I found it! :) How could I forget Freeper Tracer? Here is his threatening post.

Mitt’s mission To: Religion Moderator Fine. And you as a moderator should put an end to all of this anti-Mormon bigotry that develops from the mere mention of Romney’s faith. There are many here who take this kind of thing very “personally.” The tax-exempt and poorly-funded FR appears to foster hate speech in which “Mormons” continuously are accused of things they do not believe and have no connection to. The fact that I am by no means a minority of one is worthy of your notice, as is the fact that FR’s behavior is of interest to other conservative cyber-, print, and broadcast media. My advice to FR is to not continue the process of waking a sleeping tiger. I can walk away from all of this if I choose, or if I am “banned,” but the FR already and irretrievablly has fired the first round in an engagement in which it will not prevail I haven’t the time or the inclination to wage war with a dying blog, but there exist many others who do and have the capability of making FR’s unpleasant encounters with the NY and LA Times trivial by comparison. No threat here, but, instead, some useful information that you surely were not aware of. An apology from the ownership of the FR and a more even-handed application and enforcement of its own stated policies — e.g. religious “flame-fests” being diverted to the Religion forum — seems in order... 257 posted on 10/04/2007 10:33:30 AM MDT by tracer

Do you think this has anything to do with the weird response thread this morning? There seemed to be a disproportionate number of posters who didn’t clue in regarding the forum rules on devotional articles. All were abnormally antiMormon to the point of hostility. IMHO, almost a canned or counterfeit opposition.
