I understand there is a new anti-freeper site started by disgruntled former and present Mormon FReepers and it is their intention of bankrupting FR during the coming Freepathon by withholding their donations and disrupting our activities. Well, all I can say is, if they feel that badly against FR, by all means they should withhold their donations and drop out of FR. But it they attempt to disrupt our operations I will guarantee they will no longer be members of FR. If that is their wish, so be it.
I'm not going to try to defend FR from their claims of religious persecution, but I will say that Mormons have and always have had free reign to post their threads on FR just as all other religious groups have enjoyed. Free Republic defends the right to freedom of religion and has always welcomed religious discussion and always will. And Mormons have always been welcome here. I have absolutely nothing against Mormons.
If you are one who has left or is leaving, I wish you well, but disruption of FR is not welcome and will not be tolerated.
And this is not the first time such activity has been attempted by groups of disgruntled former FReepers. Good luck with that. There is always some group that feels FR should be bent to their way of thinking and end up saying my way or the highway. Well, I don't know about you, but I'm not changing so I guess it's the highway. Is it Feb 8 yet?
God bless.
Want “holier than thou?” Re-read your post, then look in a mirror.
That makes me feel so good thank you!
There are a number of Mormon web sites, even some that discuss the relationship of their religion to politics.
These have existed for many years, some probably older than FR. So what? It's a free country.
I am reading on this thread that FR is open. Mormons can answer the Mormon bashers if they wish.
However, I think a more important question is why should Mormons be put into a position to have to defend themselves. We need to keep focused on the goal, to reestablish a conservative government. anything else is a diversion. We only serve the God-less democrats if we break up into subgroups taking pot shots at each other. We need to work together. We should not be under attack for things that don't matter in terms of our primary goal.
I think it is stupid to do that.
Does this mean that daily mormon doctine in breaking news is gone forever?
As an LDS freeper, let me say that I have had my run in’s with those who don’t agree with or even like my religion. It has saddened me to see people on here that are so passionately against my personal beliefs. But, they are few in number and it should be noted that there are far more people on FR who don’t have a problem in the world with Mormons. Indeed, during this dust up over Proposition 8 in California, the coming together of Religious Conservatives of all faiths was clearly evident here on FR and was very gratifying to see.
Defend your faith, yes. There’s nothing wrong with that. But remember that we are counseled to do so in the Spirit of the Lord and I may not be a General Authority but, I’m pretty sure that disrupting and bankrupting a website that you deem to be “the opposition” isn’t compatible with His Spirit. The counsel “live your religion” applies to cyberspace as well. So, if you feel that strongly about FR, change to more Gospel friendly tactics or go somewhere else.
What’s really sad is I just went to religion and saw there was just as many pro-LDS threads as so called ‘anti’ threads. I’ve seen that sight, and they have a very lose definition of what is anti-Mormon, they even counted one thread talking about Mormons buying advertising.. the entire thread was positive, but they called it a bash...
I wish they would note that all religions and sects have pro and anti here.. that is the point of this site..
I am a member of FreeRepublic who left Mormonism. I am now saved by Jesus Christ. I tell my story as often as anyone will let me.
Mormons try to silence me. Thank you Mr. Robinson for letting me have a voice.
“You don’t need to read the threads.”
I know, I don’t mind the posts at all except for the sometimes not-so-subtle holier-than-thou nonsense.
If you post the holier-than-thou stuff just know that you are stirring the pot of your adversaries—you’re asking for trouble.
I see.
Politically speaking FReepers have pilloried Huckabee who has been the nemesis of Mormons. So what’s their beef? I’d ask them to seriously reconsider what is clearly an impulsive and divisive decision.
Emphasizing clear theological differences between Mormons, Hindus, Islamacists, Buddhist, Protestants and Catholics is what Faith & Reason is all about.
Faith without reason is a surrender to paganism, and reason without faith limits our inquiry to the confines of our known senses where intellectual inquiry is fully ceded to the secularists.
Mormons need to grow up and be willing to engage in faith and reason.

I'm not sure - they seem to die off faster than I can keep track of.
Thank you if anything is some exstream LDS in the Ron Paul group!~
Just from that photo, I’d say Mr. West is very unhappy and uptight, and looking to be insulted.
I also suspect he’s the head of his homeowner’s association.

I think a way to solve the problem is for moderators to immediately shift religious attack posts to the religious section of FR and not let that kind of a discussion diminish the usefulness of the activism and news section.
That way, those who are not interested in such nonsense will find it easier to ignore.
I think Mormonism is deeply flawed, but I have seen mean-spirited comments against Mormons. On the other hand, there were a few people here claiming to be Mormons who were very vocal in their support of that group in Texas that, depending on your viewpoint, got into trouble or was persecuted over alleged child abuse. I wonder if it is people who are affiliated or sympathetic to that group? And I think most Mormons have nothing to do with that group.
Don’t piss the agnostics off.
They might get all riled up and burn a big question mark in your yard. Well, if there is nothng good on TV that night.
I will just point out that most of the people who bring up Mormon religous customs are former Mormons themselves.
I have no problem with that.
After all, there can’t be disagreement if there aren’t two sides.
What I mean by that is if one side would quit discussing the subject, it would end.
Both sides like the flaming threads. Both sides.
