New Mormon anti-freeper site and campaign to bankrupt FR
rumor mill | March 29, 2009 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 03/29/2009 2:35:03 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

I understand there is a new anti-freeper site started by disgruntled former and present Mormon FReepers and it is their intention of bankrupting FR during the coming Freepathon by withholding their donations and disrupting our activities. Well, all I can say is, if they feel that badly against FR, by all means they should withhold their donations and drop out of FR. But it they attempt to disrupt our operations I will guarantee they will no longer be members of FR. If that is their wish, so be it.

I'm not going to try to defend FR from their claims of religious persecution, but I will say that Mormons have and always have had free reign to post their threads on FR just as all other religious groups have enjoyed. Free Republic defends the right to freedom of religion and has always welcomed religious discussion and always will. And Mormons have always been welcome here. I have absolutely nothing against Mormons.

If you are one who has left or is leaving, I wish you well, but disruption of FR is not welcome and will not be tolerated.

And this is not the first time such activity has been attempted by groups of disgruntled former FReepers. Good luck with that. There is always some group that feels FR should be bent to their way of thinking and end up saying my way or the highway. Well, I don't know about you, but I'm not changing so I guess it's the highway. Is it Feb 8 yet?

God bless.

I have not learned HMTL so I use them to separate what I say from what someone else said.

Would be easer, but I choose not to make your search for the truth easer.

Wow, just wow...

Well at least you are accurate in that, not only do you not help the search, but you never give us anything at all to go on.

Hence your hand must be empty, for if you were a defendeder of the truth, if it were on your side you would be proud to defend it at every turn.

Instead we have tricks and word games...

I wonder why that is...

More obfuscation and misdirection, I see. Not to mention outright misrepresentation of my post.

++++

You have said you are a Catholic conservative,

Some Catholic posters complain of posters not telling the truth about the Catholic Church's history.

I just wondered if you think posters should be responsible for what they teach about the Catholic Church here at FR?

I do not see any misrepresentation, I only ask if you think that posters should be responsible for what they teach with there statements and questions.

"Another use of a diversion to get the reader not to focus on how someone used a single word to change what we teach into a strawman argument."

...And that's another use of legalese to try and cover up obvious false doctrine.

Perhaps you could reference a passage of scripture where Christ used such a technique. I'll call this the "White Bronco" defense.

You haven't answered my question re

So it is true that you claim that the God of the OT was once a man who grew into His Godhood?

Fred, enough already. For every 3,000 questions you ask, you answer zero questions directed your way. [Not a very flattering ratio]

My advice to all: Don't get sucked into Fred's vortex until and unless he starts answering ANY questions straightforwardly. There are some LDS among FREEPERS who can truly dialogue. Address your attention to them.

This thread is not about Catholicism. It's about a Mormon anti-Free Republic group.

My post was directed toward your unacceptable characterization of those who have disagreed with you on this thread.

If you are unwilling to address that, at least be man enough to admit it.

I will ask you again...

----------------------------------------

Fredrest....please tell me what is out of context here.

"Now if any of you will deny the plurality of wives, and continue to do so, I promise that you will be damned." (Journal of Discourses, Vol. 3, p. 266). Also, "The only men who become Gods, even the Sons of God, are those who enter into polygamy." (Journal of Discourses, Vol. 11, page 269).

And let's be clear...B. Young was a very important founder/prophet of LDS, correct?

And he also said this below, right? And everyone believed him too...because he IS a mormon prophet, right?

"I say now, when they [his discourses] are copied and approved by me they are as good Scripture as is couched in this Bible . . . " (Journal of Discourses, Vol. 13, p. 264; see also page 95.)

So...give me your accounting here on these direct quotes.

"I do not see any misrepresentation, I only ask if you think that posters should be responsible for what they teach with there statements and questions."

You seem more concerned about typos here at FR by mere men than you do of DOCTRINES TAUGHT FROM THE PULPIT AND PUBLISHED BY THE CHURCH BY YOUR "PROPHETS".

Nice lawyering though. The attorneys in the hierarchy of the Corporation of the President of the LDS chruch must be very pleased with you.

The difference is Fred, as the RM told you many posts ago, the Catholics come to the table with facts and supporting information to dispute what is said and I have never known any Catholic to engage in the word games you and others from the LDS have to use. They support their defense endlessly every single time wit out being coy and cute.

My Catholic friends don't have an empty hand. We may disagree on a few points here and there, but they have teachings and Scripture that can least susbtiaite why the believe what they do. They don't have to bend and twist what has been said by their leaders because it is either right or wrong, and when it has been wrong and finally and fully exposed it has been vigorously refuted by the Church.

As a FReeper, Fred, when you saw Greg West's attempt to undermine FR

++++++++++++++

I saw an possible opportunity to use truth to counter the few hard-core-anti-Mormons here at FR.

I will wait until all this flap dies down to decide if Greg West is out to distroy FR, or if it is just some posters trying to raise his activities to that level; as a way to cover up a passable embarrassing source of truth to there activities.

Yes, the key word is "reasoned". St. Paul reasoned with those in the synagogue. Quite so. That's exactly my point. So much of what goes on in the religion forum is not reasoned debate because one or both parties have stopped listening.

It's at this point that the debate ends and you move on. That's why Jesus advised his apostles to shake the dust from their feet and move on to the next town when their message was not accepted. Likewise he advised them not to cast their pearls before swine in a similar vein.

Please don't try an compare the lucid, spiritual insights of St. Paul with the embarrassing daily mud slinging of the religion forum. If you can't see the difference, you're part of the problem.

And did you decide that it is a good source of truth to counter the few hardcore-anti-Mormons that spend a lot of time misleading readers here at FR?
++++++

Still undecided about that.

So far, it looks like the discussions are headed away from what I am looking for.

The search for truth can occur in some strange places...

OJ spent may years doing just that, since golf Courses are known hangouts for knife wielding murderers...

Self fulfilling prophecy....
