I heard the witch was in Houston. Glad I didn't come face to face with her or I would have been permanently blinded.

Boy, you have brought back some memories. Our nuns did the same thing. I had tons of those cards. You know I still collect them. Mostly from family funerals.

I am very grateful to my parents for sending me to Catholic School.

My dad pulled us out of Catholic School as soon as they started to replace the nuns with lay teachers.

I don't know that a non Catholic would be familiar with the story of Our Lady of Guadalupe. As a Catholic, I'll give her a break on this one.

You're being far too charitable. McCain isn't a Catholic and he didn't make such an ignorant remark.

Plus, look at the way she's dressed. The smartest woman in America is simply an ignoramus.

Well, I understand what you mean, so I am rethinking my original assumption that Hillary was too far away from the image to see that it wasn't a painting. The image that both McCain and Hillary are looking at seems to be near ground level.

As I did some research on the web, I came across a picture that purports to be of the original tilma. It is shown high above the altar in the basilica (see picture below). I guess that I was being incredibly naive to think that it couldn't, in some manner, be brought down for closer inspection. Okay, Hillary really dropped the ball on this one. Following on the heels of the "reset button" incident, I don't foresee her having a particularly burgeoning diplomatic career.

I don't know that a non Catholic would be familiar with the story of Our Lady of Guadalupe. As a Catholic, I'll give her a break on this one. The way the image is framed makes it look similar to a painting and it's location high above the altar most probably precludes closer inspection. I do think however that her aides are falling down on the job not to have briefed her ahead of time as to the story surrounding the image. She could have even gone on line herself and found the story.

As a Catholic you have a very forgiving nature -- to your credit during this season of Lent. ;)

However, this was Hillary's SECOND visit to the Shrine. I've also visited the Shrine in Mexico City. You cannot go there without being handed a brochure telling all about the tilma and the miracle. Even if they don't hand out brochures anymore, the story is in every Mexican guide book. Furthermore, the priest brought the framed tlma down from the altar for closer examination by Hillary's party. Not only that, this "miracle" is widelly known through North and south America, as it is told and re-told throughout the year on various occasions -- even in the popular press. Our Lady of Guadalupe is the Patroness of ALL of the Americas.

Hillary bears criticism for this faux pas because she should have made it her business to be prepped for this visit. She is an embarrassment.
