The Iranians betrayed (Melanie Phillips)
Spectator UK ^ | Mar. 27, 2009 | Melanie Phillips

Amil Imani has written an impassioned piece about the way in which Obama is betraying Imani's fellow Iranians:

"President Obama said, ‘The United States wants the Islamic Republic of Iran to take its rightful place in the community of nations.’ But, Mr. President, the Iranian nation does not wish to be associated with this occupying regime, whatsoever. In fact, they want the Islamic Republic to be thrown into the dustbin of history as quickly as possible. Mr. President, today, the Islamic Republic of Iran is one of the greatest threats to the stability of the civilized world and humanity at large. It continues to impose its horrendous ideology on the Iranian population.

It also looks like my people are going to be betrayed once again by a badly misguided American president. Jimmy Carter helped give birth to the virulent Shiite Islamism by forbidding the Shah of Iran to crush the bloodthirsty Ayatollah Khomeini and his band of rabid Islamists. Now, President Obama intends to confer legitimacy on the illegitimate child, the Islamic Republic of Iran.

... It is worse than appeasement to negotiate a ‘deal’ with the Islamists in Iran because any deal struck with these mullahs is only another ruse for them to further their plans... Misguided advocates of negotiation with the mullahs, beware. The mullahs are on an Allah-mandated mission. They are intoxicated with Petrodollars and aim to settle for nothing less than complete domination of the world under the Islamic Ummah. It is precisely for this reason that they consider America and the West as ‘Ofooli,’ setting-dying system, while they believe their Islamism as ‘Tolooi,’ rising-living order. They are in no mood for negotiating for anything less than the total surrender of democracy, the very anathema to Islamism."

Because of the way in which Iran is under-reported in the western media, few appreciate the terror under which the civilised Iranians, natural friends to the west, are being subjugated by the regime which runs their country. As Imani says, those Iranians have been systematically betrayed by ignorant, stupid, greedy and short-sighted American and western governments, with the result that even now the Iranian regime is playing them for suckers while moving its pieces on the geopolitical chessboard into the nuclear checkmate position. And now Obama has gone grovelling to that regime and even validated it, he has not only further weakened the free world against it but has also taken the ground from under the feet of the very people who so urgently need the world’s support to get rid of that regime.

Those Iranians are indeed the free world’s best hope of averting the coming cataclysm. Obama’s appeasement strategy is as suicidally stupid as it is unprincipled.

No more foreign wars. The Iranians will have to throw off their own chains, if they care to. I don’t understand why they have allowed the mullahs to remain in power so long.

Note to Obama: This is the beginning of wisdom.

Two things Iranians, of all political or otherwise persuasion or orientation, are not, include: stupid & naive.

You have just confirmed my suspicion that Americans are fundamentally ignorant. The people of Iran have not “allowed” anything to happen. It is with help from powers outside Iran that this illegitimate régime came to power. It is powers outside Iran that are supporting it by purchasing Iranian oil and wining and dining the Mullahs and their representatives in world capitals to appease them when they threaten the balance of power in the Middle East. It is powers outside Iran that are feeding and fueling the régime’s bloodthirsty vendetta against all who dare to rise and speak in opposition to it.

Scenario: The Hayden Lake Arian Nation Brotherhood (with backing from France and the USSR among others) has violently overthrown our government and replaced it with a Theocracy governed by a “Religious Council” that imposes Biblical Law (Old Testament). It elects a puppet “President” to present a pseudo-democratic face to the outside world, but all elections are run by the Council and only Council approved candidates can run for election. This Council arms the military to turn its guns on “Enemies of the State” whether internal or external, and pays a band of gangsters to beat, brutalize and kill anyone who protests in the street, who peacefully assembles on a University campus to discuss injustices perpetrated by the government on members of the faculty and student body, members of the press both domestic and foreign, and on women and children. Those who survive these atrocities languish in the worst prison conditions in the world: female prisoners are regularly sodomized, raped, tortured and beaten to within an inch of their lives and left medically untreated to rot there. All the while their families are being extorted for money to allegedly pay for their love one’s care in prison and they are promised that if things get worse their loved one will be “furloughed” so they can seek alternative care.

You have a wife and three children and the government has decided that you will not be allowed to work because you do not adhere to the established religion, and that you have been seen in the company of “known Enemies of the State.” You also have the responsibility to protect and provide for your entire extended family because you are the eldest surviving son of your father. There is no Social Security Administration or Department of Social and Health Services where you can go to receive welfare, food stamps or high quality free medical care. How would you “throw off the chains” if you can’t even own a weapon for self defense in case of enemy invasion?

The scenario I just painted is routine daily life in the capital city of Tehran and other cities like Isfahan and Shiraz. In the glorious Islamic Republic of Iran you either tow the line like a good little Shiite or you are TOAST!!!!! The goal of the Shiite régime of Iran is nothing short of world domination and the imposition of Sharia Law on every living creature on planet Earth.

Amil Imani’s full article (titled: Obama & Khamenei) to which this post refers, was published on Iranian.com on March 27, 2009. I managed to have a quick read on March 28, 2009.

Today I decided to have another look, and, apparently, Imani’s article has been removed from Iranian.com. Does anyone know the reason?

I still managed to see google cache version of the article on the mentioned website today.

It seems quite a few (popular) websites have been more active in the last couple of months in removing videoclips and articles, which are perceived to be “sensitive” to the image of Islamists & of course the IRI. YouTube, most definitely, is no exception!

These are regretful things, but ultimately the people of Iran must choose whether to save themselves or not. The US cannot continue to interfere in these matters. It was Jimmy Carter’s interference that started the process.
