Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan, the top Republican on the budget committee, said Thursday he would have voted against the 90 percent tax increase if he had known that legal scholars would deem it unconstitutional.
"Now, that I know which I didn't at the time that this is unconstitutional, I wouldn't have voted the same way," Ryan said during a taping of C-SPAN's "Newsmakers" on Thursday the show is set to air on Sunday. POLITICO was one of the participants in the Ryan interview.

If this guy is one of the GOP's bright lights, we are in serious trouble. What do these guys do with their free time, chase skirts?

Con Law is second-year, I believe. --
First year, FWIW
As an academic issue, whether or not the proposed 90% tax passes constitutional muster isn't clear-cut; and eventually is settled by some black-robed judge.

He should be removed from office. OTOH, I believe that if the congress critter has actually LEARNED from what he and his colleagues have done, he is in a more learned position to do a better job next time. Much better than starting from scratch with a new one. IOW, he's worth watching velly closely before forming an opinion on his appropriateness of office.

OTOH, I believe that if the congress critter has actually LEARNED from what he and his colleagues have done, he is in a more learned position to do a better job next time.If a man commits the crime of voting yes on a bill of attainder, then he has violated his oath of office and he no longer deserves to be a congressman. These Republicans (all but 94 of them) succumbed to the tyranny of the majority and voted to punish some citizens with a 90% tax on their incomes to mollify the masses who were calling for their collective heads in response to the Dictator Obama's call for punishment.
Every congressman or woman who voted for this deserves to be removed from office. This is not subject to a learning curve. These people don't even read the laws that they pass to control us. They vote without any regard for the constitution and as a result we are all in peril every time they meet.
No second chances. This guy needs to be removed from office along with every republican and democrat who voted in favor of this illegal tax.
