A key part of a victims-rights measure that voters approved in November has been overturned by a federal judge, who ruled the state must provide attorneys for parole violators when it is considering whether to send them back to prison.

Senior Judge Lawrence K. Karlton of the U.S. District Court in Sacramento ruled against Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and the state in issuing an injunction against that part of Proposition 9.

The reason they wanted this initiative is the California, unlike any other state, has the distinction that two thirds of the people sent to prison are for parole violations. And the parole officers are from the same union as the prison guards.

But their little industry is starting to cost them too much in legal bills so they are complaining. I do not think any court could rule with these guys. They are clearly out of it if they think they can deny these people lawyers.
