Read the article. You have guards making friends with the prisoners, guards converting to Islam, guards traveling with ex-inmates to criticize their incarceration.

Name any POW facility in any war in any country where that kind of thing happens. And yet people are convinced that Guantanamo is some kind of torture chamber. Americans naturally find it very difficult to hold a grudge against anyone. The luckiest day in most inmates’ lives is the day they get captured by an American.

The "general" who converted this nonentity Holdbrooks, Ahmed Errachidi, turns out to be a mistake. The ever corrupt Paki police had grabbed him and turned him over to the CIA to collect a $5,000 reward, making up a story that he was part of an Al Qaeda training camp. But he was released from Gitmo in 2007 after it was proven he was working as a chef in London during the time he was supposedly at the training camp.

If the people at Gitmo had been doing their jobs properly, Errachidi would have been sprung much earlier (the evidence was in hand, just ignored), and, who knows, Terry Holdbrooks might be a Krishna nut or a Scientologist by now.

Unfortunately there's always weak people who are easily duped, used and conned by manipulating criminals. I worked in Corrections, and over the years, teachers, nurses, and officers were fired from various facilities for having sex with inmates, and/or bringing in drugs or other contraband to the convicts. These people put the rest of us in jeopardy, and were a direct threat to the security of the facility they were working at. In most cases, it was another convict that ratted them out.

I'm surprised this guy was allowed to sit and talk with these terrorists for as long as he says he did. That isn't what his job was. He was there for security, not as a social worker. In the end, he was mind-f*cked by a murderer, and put his fellow soldiers lives in jeopardy. I wonder when he will realize what a joke his so-called conversion was to the Gitmo prisoners, because in their eyes, he's not a true muslim. What a putz.
