Pretty much the same things they gained in 1962 when they last attacked...

“Not mentioned.....Why would China attack India? What would they gain?”

For a start, virtually complete dominance of the IT-sector and related critical infrastructure. China already holds the note on much of the world's debt; now imagine what happens if it can gain control of the world's IT and associated networks. An attack on India would be a serious jolt felt ‘round the world. Economically, India is for China a big rock in the middle of the world-dominance road.

-Border disputes along the old British demarcated Tibet border, interpretations of which can vary considerably, not only in the NorthEast, but also in the Kashmir/Ladakh and to the East and South of that area.
A book by R. Maxwell details the buildup to the 1962 War very well.

-A desire to potentially relieve pressure on Pakistan in case of a dustup there, nothwithstanding Chinese leeriness about Pakistani support for Uighur fighters.

-As an mechanism to increase control over Tibet, moving more Army units to counter the Indian “threat”

-A desire to reclaim perceived lost territories from Indian, primarily the state of Arunachal Pradesh.
