While I loathe this Hitler Youth Group idea, I don’t see in the prohibitions cited anything that prevents a participant from attending church.

Let’s see:
indentured servitude - Check
free speech squelched - Check
losing the right to petition the government for redress of grievances - Check
no religious freedom - Check
Taking away God given rights - Check
But the Supreme Court will let this bill pass - after all, what’s the big deal about the Bill of Rights....

This seems blatantly unconstitutional. Even civil servants and soldiers have a right to free exercise of religion outside working hours.

My reading of this potential law is that the Obama Youth would be prohibited from religious activities as representatives of Obama Youth. Which is fair enough — it is setting out to be a secular organization, as it should.
Goodness knows I have no time for Obama nor for his Fascist aspirations or secret-muslim agenda, but surely nobody would want it to be possible for the Obama Youth to be able to discharge their duties doing the work of Allah or the Reverend? Surely it is fitting and proper that this silly organzation operate as a secular entity — no Christian should even want to be associated with it.

The Bill would forbid any student in the brigade to participate in engaging in religious instruction, conducting worship services, providing instruction as part of a program that includes mandatory religious instruction or worship, constructing or operating facilities devoted to religious instruction or worship, maintaining facilities primarily or inherently devoted to religious instruction or worship, or engaging in any form of religious proselytization. That means no church attendance or witnessing. Sorry, Mr. Clark -- it does not say "no church attendance." It's standard, boilerplate "separation of church and state" language.
While there are plenty of reasons to oppose this program, it is not necessary to lie about what the language plainly does not say.

Do they actually read the bill before they vote on it it, or do they just look for feelgood acronyms?

Do the Youth Brigade members get a red scarf like the Young Pioneers of the USSR? This damn Obama is really getting old fast.

It’s bad enough that a freedom-hater was voted into Congress and came up with this bill, but it’s so much worse that so many other freedom-haters are in Congress and support it.

Not really true; the program would actually encourage worship of OBAMA. So some religion would be allowed, you see.
