When I lived out were Sandy and Jinxy live, there would be great flocks of warblers in all colors.
I liked them. They would sip water from the swampcooler under my bedroom window.
Every morning I was awakened to a a rainbow of chirping little guys, and as you said, later in the day they would kinda scatter off. Then in the afternoon all the quail would show up. Like 70 of them.
Here we got Grackles and Jays. Ungh
One time we were walking in the woods, I heard a unique bird call. I made everyone I was with look for the bird. ;) I had to figure out what bird that was. It was a Warbler. What an interesting nice call they have.
We have the Grackles too. Good grief are they loud and make such ear piercing noise.
The Mexican Grackles have moved in - they’re a very pretty bird with a splash of yellow over the shoulder just like a red-winged blackbird.
But loud? Not just loud - raucous loud - obnoxious loud - incessantly annoyingly painfully loud!
I walked out the back door at work this evening to come home and surprised a pair of quail that had been strolling through the parking lot. And we’re smack dab in the middle of town. I love to hear quail calling to each other. It’s a very plaintive sound that is immediately recognizable and a pleasure to hear.
