See, that's the thing. Being a "prohibited person," it was illegal for Mixon to touch any gun. It was illegal for him to have a handgun, to carry it, to kill with it. And California has "assault weapon" bans that cover not only the model Mixon used, but also the characteristics.
And then there's this:

I travel the I-80 corridor to S.F. every morning on the way to work. We have those electronic billboards that change the message every minute or so.
One of the messages this morning was chilling: Four Oakland Police Badges with black horizontal mourning stripe, requesting our prayers for their families.
Four good men, lost in one day to an sub-human monster, and all the politicians can mouth are the words “gun control.”
“Feral Government”...great word, it has a nice ring to it!

It’s such a simple revision to the word federal, with such a huge impact on the meaning, that I really do wish I had thought of it!
They did the same thing around here, when a violent felon from a half-way house used a stolen semi-auto rifle to kill a Philly cop. The body wasn’t even cold as the mayor and chief of police (or something) had the gun on a tripod talking about how bad it was. Infuriating.
The pukes would have been politely dealt with years ago, by a society allowed to be polite.
Yeah, and the nuts who want more gun control are the same one who oppose longer prison sentences and "three-strikes" laws to keep people like Mixon locked up.
It makes “logical” sense if you understand their mindset. It’s laid out well in Sowell’s “Conflict of Visions”.
People are only “bad” because the environment they’re in isn’t conducive to them being “good” and “self actualized”.
Therefor, punishing the person is fruitless, while changing the environment (access to guns) is the only way to change the person.
On top of all this I hear about the media bashing the cops? The neighbors doing nothing, not wanting to “snitch”? What a contrast to Houston, where in 1989 James Irby, a Houston PD motorcycle officer was gunned down at a traffic stop, and the whole neighborhood chased down the perps. The perps complained about adverse pre-trial publicity and asked for a change in venue for the trial. They got a change in venue - Gillespie County, in the Texas Hill Country. Talk about out of the frying pan and into the fire. But that’s Texas, not California.

Indeed. I'm currently ensconced in the Left Coast (not California, thank God, but west coast Washington state is bad enough). If I live long enough, and enough of my IRA survives, I hope to retire to Texas (and in the Hill Country, to boot).
I remember when the Brady Bunch was promoting "cop killer" bullets and how they could penetrate bulletproof vests the police were wearing at the time. The police were begging Brady to shut up as it was not widely known then that they were using vests. Brady had an agenda to push and went ahead anyway. Soon there were more reports of officers being shot in the head.
With Oakland being a small Africa four white cop killings only held the media for one day if the cops were black the msm would play it for a month.

These are thoughts that will come back to haunt people who've been 'disarmed' by their overlords in government.
I'm not certain when it happened, but when Americans stopped being the source of power (with rights) and granted it to government (the ability to deny rights), we've been on a steady path of decline in our society.
Seems the easiest method to correct this situation would simply be to 'restore' certain rights currently denied. I'd start with Ammendment Two. Some of the benefits of doing such my not be quite so obvious, so let me take a guess at a few:
You know that place right in front of your face? Lately, some folks don't seem to mind getting right in it from time to time. The right to carry un-infringed would change that BIG time. Let's just say Gay Parades and other public demonstrations would become much more tolerant of others than they are today.
You know that thing you drive to the store? Some people don't care if it belongs to you and will try to force you to abandone it so they can take for a joy ride. The right to carry un-infringed would end this practice immediately. Perps such as this will simply have to learn to do better maintenance on their own cars if they want to get around, or else.
You know that place you call your home? It should be a place of peace and tranquility that you go to after a long day at work, not a target of opportunity for a bandit. Your children should be safe and you should be too. Every home in America ought to come with smoke alarms, bathrooms, and a twelve-guage shotgun loaded with #4 shot (or something smaller in number). Children from the age of, say, eight, should be able to utilize this tool just as they might be expected to dial 911. Or flush a toilet. Sometimes minutes count and a lengthy phone converstation may not cut it.
If our government gets out of the way and our courts don't place roadblocks between us and our path back to the Constitution, things in America may return to normalcy. 'Till then, it's everybody for themselves. Unlike Michelle, I'm not proud of my country lately.

If this person “Mixon” is such a threat to society why was he allowed out f prison? Isn’t the cost of one law abiding citizens life worth the cost of keeping dangerous people like this in prison for life? Why do the leftist gun haters want dangerous people released from prison?
