Suggesting eligibility proof gets congressman scorned

Faces comments including, 'Take the Reynolds Wrap off your head'

A new member of Congress arrived in Washington to a flood of questions from his constituency about Barack Obama's eligibility to be president: Was he really born in the United States, and was he qualified under the Constitution's requirement that the office be occupied only by a "natural born" citizen?

So U.S. Rep. Bill Posey did what most congressmen would do regarding a subject of grave concern to their voters: He proposed a bill that would require future presidential candidates to document their eligibility. And that has earned him scorn and ridicule.

"What you should do is stop embarrassing yourself and take the Reynolds Wrap off your head," MSNBC commentator Keith Olbermann suggested to Posey.

U.S. Rep. Neil Abercrombie, D-Hawaii, has gone so far as to suggest that Posey's judgment is skewed.

I can see why they don’t think we need a process to make sure candidates qualify- after all we have factcheck.org- that’s good enough for them! Many who have contacted their representatives with questions about Obama being qualified have actually received answers that say: according to factcheck.org....

I keep thinking somehow I stepped into an episode of the Twilight Zone or fell down a rabbit hole or something.

I’m surprised Olberfagg was able to put down Barney’s Frankfurter long enough to get a sentence out. Keith you need to vary your diet dog.

I’d like to see Posey, or some other Congress Critter, get OBama’s college records opened.

Obamalamadingdong didn't seem to have any trouble opening up sealed court records of his Senate opponent's divorces.

Look at all the lame excuses from politicians at the end of the article. Kyl of AZ actually cited Snopes.com as his source. What a joke!

He proposed a bill that would require future presidential candidates to document their eligibility.

How dare he respond to constituent's concerns! Even worse, he's apparently trying to "...support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same..."

</sarc>

If only we had more like him...

These people are true idiots. Posey did the right thing. I wonder why the others are running scared?

none of these tolerant people actually want to discuss the issue at hand...

Part of that is the typical knee-jerk liberal reaction when challenged. They can't discuss/defend any of their policies. This case is different, I think, and it's got them more than a little scared. It's getting harder and harder for them to explain away 0bama's continuing refusal to settle the matter. Only an idiot (and we all know libs are way, way smart) would not be just a little suspicious at this point.

FReeper Calpernia came up with this.

PASS THE WORD to state and federal legislators, political leaders, media, etc:

eVerify is already in place for employers. We need to eVerify incumbents and all politicans running for office----their staffs AND donors.

DHS needs to register all political organizations so that Americans could enter the names of politicians wanting to run for public office.

The current eVerify Dept holds the position that politicians don’t work for us, they work for the government. Nonsense-----we are the citizens that vet them, vote for them, and pay their salaries.

DHS needs to confirm EVERY candidates' immigration status.

Pass the word.
