Obama Supporting UN Resolution On Homosexuality (Change?)

Controversial Measure Backs Decriminalizing Homosexuality In Some Parts Of The World

A decision by the Obama administration to endorse a United Nations resolution calling for the decriminalizing of homosexuality has been met with dismay among pro-family advocates.

The announcement, which was issued by the State Department last week, is a turnaround from the position held by former President George W. Bush.

The Franco-Dutch resolution found that 77 nations worldwide criminalize homosexuality, seven of which sentence the offender to death. Supporters say the resolution is geared at promoting human rights and protecting gay individuals in such hostile countries.

“Human rights is, and always will be, one of the pillars of our foreign policy,” Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said during her maiden voyage last month. “In particular, persecution and discrimination against gays and lesbians is something we take very seriously.”

Critics, however, claim the resolution is a backdoor attempt at changing and influencing U.S. laws, such as prohibitions against same-sex marriage.

“When the French-sponsored statement was introduced at the United Nations last December, the Vatican’s permanent observer noted that its emphasis on ‘non-discrimination ... regardless of sexual orientation and gender identity’ could be used to pressure member-states to recognize gay marriage and other special rights,” said World Congress of Families Managing Director Larry Jacobs.

Critics charge the document includes language prohibiting “harassment, discrimination, exclusion, stigmatization and prejudice” which are “directed against persons in all countries in the world because of sexual orientation or gender identity” and such language could be far-reaching.

“Violence and harassment in all forms should be condemned, but this special rights measure is not needed by the United Nations,” Mr. Jacobs said.

“The Universal Declaration of Human Rights (1948) has already been signed by the nations of the world and is supposed to be used by the U.N. to protect the rights of all persons from conception to natural death. Will this special rights measure be used to push for homosexuals serving openly in the U.S. military? Will it be interpreted as a mandate for gay adoption?”

The State Department, however, defended its policy reversal on the basic of human dignity and refused to entertain notions that the documents was any attempt to circumvent existing U.S. law.

“The United States is an outspoken defender of human rights and critic of human rights abuses around the world,” State Department spokesperson Robert Wood told reporters. “As such, we join with other supporters of this statement and we will continue to remind countries of the importance of respecting the human rights of all people in all appropriate international fora.”

Pointing to Mr. Obama’s policy reversals on abortion, Mr. Jacobs argued homosexual was the next logical step to implement his far-left agenda.

“Signing the U.N. homosexual rights statement is very much in keeping with this administration’s anti-family and anti-faith actions so far,” Mr. Jacobs said.

The U.N. General Assembly has traditionally been divided over the issue of gay rights and a great deal of opposition has come from Muslim countries. The U.S. was the only Western nation not to sign the document prior to the State Department’s announcement.

Must be hard for Obama, he has to weigh his personal desires against those of the Koran.

His cronies in Congress need to have their feet held to the fire by their constituents (those that are awake, that is) in order that nothing further be accomplished by this anti-American traitor!

There is no reason for homosexuality to be a criminal offense, and there is no justification for the torture and murder committed upon gays by Islamic fascists. To accept a person’s essential humanity is not to approve of their actions, nor is it a tacit endorsement of a particular political agenda.

It's best for polite society to not know who is, or isn't inclined to lust after persons of the same sex. Keep these proclivities hidden under the rock where they belong.

If shoving one's pee-pee up another's poo-poo is essential humanity, then humanity is indeed in deep trouble.

Our politicians have been pandering to and acting as sycophants for the agenda of the international homosexual agenda for too damned long!

An examination of homosexual activity shows that most have a desire to force perversion on the youth of America and, further, that they commit the vast majority of serial killings.

There is something radically wrong with homosexuals and their disgusting methods of achieving their filthy orgasms.

I see nothing wrong with what you have written there. In fact, I would agree.

So long as decriminalizing homosexuality does not come loaded with conferring additional rights beyond the right not to be prosecuted for being homosexually inclined, I would have no objection to decriminalization being endorsed.

I suspect the agenda will go well beyond that, however.

Homosexuality is a crime against nature.

That it should be perpetuated and protected of laws enacted by the adherents of such is a crime against humanity, a serious crime.

There is a politically-powerful gay subculture (and a highly localized one) that promotes immoral and illicit behavior of a terribly destructive nature (see: San Francisco). But I disagree that "most" homosexuals are pederasts or crusading perverts. Quite the contrary. I have known many gay people over the years (mostly through business), the vast majority of whom have demonstrated no interest whatsoever in either promoting a radical political agenda or in seducing underage boys.

I believe sexuality is a private matter, and as long as it is consensual behavior between adults who do not flaunt it in my face, I am content to leave it alone.

I was wondering how the UN could pass this when it is clearly one of the spearheads of Islamic Jihad.

I believe sexuality is a private matter...

Me too, but as long as they keep shoving their agenda in our faces it is no longer private. It is also as dangerous to American society as are the muslim murderers.

Homosexuality =

an acquired taste resulting from not being able to talk to members of the opposite sex.

It's a mental thing that develops at a pre-teen age when one discovers sexual gratification with a same-sex person.

Well said! Decriminalizing homosexual behavior is just one more advance in the sodomite agenda of forcing society to accept and approve their vile behavior.
