Like it or not, gun sales are, well, booming.
There are a number of reasons but the most prevalent are people are afraid the Obama administration, sooner or later, will get around to creating more-restrictive gun ownership laws and taxes. And those are not unfounded fears.
So gun owners are stocking up on ammunition, handguns and semiautomatic rifles. Sales are up 50 percent since Barack Obama was elected.
And gun-control advocates have taken notice.
In a story in Seacoast Sunday last week, Peter Hamm of the Washington-D.C.-based Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence used words like "lunacy" to describe people who are buying guns.

BUMP!
It makes one wonder how the author would describe my 5,000 book library. Am I "stockpiling" books?
(the 500+ books on firearms & military hardware would probably give him pause...)
Chain stores don't do a good job anyway of supporting our 2nd amendment rights. Think it is because they want to be PC. Most of the stores don't sell handguns, now.
Anyway, can you recommend a good store or chain in Colorado (Denver Metro area)?
Can you buy ammo mail order?
Thanks.

...if owning a gun is “lunacy”, I’m proud to say that I’m a card carrying “lunatic” times 5! 6 if you include the 38 I’m getting for my wife!!
I think most people are stocking up because they are afraid they will need something to put down the commies.
Those 9mms are HUGH!
Other than empty shelves and "out of stock" indications on ammunition websites. Even steel cased Wolf and other Ruski brands.
At least this is one sector of the economy Obama has had a positive impact on. Remington employees are probably getting big time bonuses this year. Good for them.
The sad thing is we are doing this because we fear our government. When citizens have this much fear of their government the eventual results are foreseeable. People are doing what any sane person would do when face with tyranny, prepare to defend themselves and their loved ones.
Lead, brass, aluminum and steel, especially when properly processed, are great investments. Their value should keep up nicely with the hyperinflation that the Messiah is bringing.
The Second Amendment still gives Americans the right to keep and bear arms.
Does no such thing. It protect that right, it doesn't give it. Repealing the second amendment wouldn't take it away either...but would have "Unintended Consequences", interesting ones.
Gun ownership and possession are legal in this country.
Just ask the people who were in New Orleans after Katrina or the people who were in LA during the riots. Or the family waiting for the police to show up while their house is being burglarized. Or the poor girl who is being terrorized by her ex-boyfriend, and on and on.
If the current situation were to take a turn for the worse, it could get really nasty. And you don't want to be unarmed and waiting for the government to save you.
Of course. The Obama Youth Corps will be by to burn most or all of them, and possibly you with them.
Depends on your state, but in general yes. Just put whatever caliber you are looking for into your favorite search engine (I find Altavista works well on such stuff) and you'll likely find a few dozen places which sell it.
Be warned however that most of them show "out of stock" or "on backorder". I'm waiting on 500 rounds of .233 myself, it did not show either on backorder or out of stock when I ordered it, but a couple of days later the 500 round box did and about a week after that the 1000 round box did. Mine was supposed to have shipped a week ago, but now just shows "on back order, as does my removable AR sights, my 10 AR magazines, and my AR kit. At least I have the stripped lower, and the holographic sight in hand.
And we will, or at least the bullets, with them.
this is my favorite ammo store , they are reliable and ship fast , given the volume they have in sales :) they are keeping up well

Green Mountain Guns in Lakewood is a very good store. I was there yesterday and they had some ammo in stock, although the shelves were semi-bare.
Can you buy ammo mail order?
Yes, although many of the large dealers in ammunition are currently out of stock. Try www.cabelas.com, www.ammoman.com, and www.cheaperthandirt.com. You can also get ammunition at the auction websites www.gunbroker.com and www.auctionarms.com.
Thanks. Would be nice to have some 223. Used to be able to get it easily and cheaply.
Thanks!
I’ll give them a shot.
