Geithner: Treas. Expressed Concerns to Dodd ( LIARS CLUB )

Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner acknowledged Thursday that his department "expressed concern" to Sen. Chris Dodd (D-Conn.) that a provision concerning bonuses in the stimulus bill could prompt lawsuits from workers at bailed-out companies—a measure at the heart of this week’s AIG bonus controversy.

Already under fire for his handling of the issue, Geithner said Treasury officials spoke with Dodd about the measure. The language that was then substituted in the bill allowed the controversial AIG bonuses to go forward.

“But we also worked with him to strengthen the overall framework,” Geithner said. “And his bill has this very important provision we’re relying on now to go back and see if we can recoup payments that were made that there was no legal ability to block.”

Dodd said this week that he inserted the bonus provision after a Treasury official asked for it. He refused to name who at Treasury made the request – and Geithner also refused to name names, but indicated that it was not him personally.

“I did have with other officials some conversations with Chairman Dodd as he was going through this process, but other provisions,” Geithner told CNN’s Ali Velshi.

Snip: **And he offered a bit of self reflection, and talked about the values he brings to the job: “Be candid about the challenges. Assess them carefully and honestly. Don’t underestimate the potential risk. Understand how important the obligation is we share to make sure that what we’re doing is targeted at the working families and businesses across this country who are suffering so much from this.”**

Are these the same values Tiny Tim the Turbo Tax Cheat brought to his personal tax preparation over the years?

Personally after Dodd’s i didn’t and i did statements, and what congress did with AIG, I am not believing 911 was a government opportunity to get us to this point. I’m extremely distrustful of this government.

I made arrangements to leave the country soon if it continues the way it is going. Something is up and now I believe republicans and democrats are involved.

Only in his dreams. He's a liar and a cheat like 95% of those on Capital Hill (and the fool/and vice fool in the White House).

I have changed my mind on term limits, BTW. One term and they GO HOME! The longer they stay, the more crooked they become!

Barney Frank wanted a list of names of private citizens, so we shouldn't have any problem finding out who the guys at Treasury were, right?

Chinese financial assets are very safe,” Geithner said. His response drew laughter from the audience. (Reporting by Glenn Somerville; ....from Drudge
