3 Oakland cops killed in 2 related incidents (gunman dead)

OAKLAND -- Four Oakland police officers were shot and seriously wounded this afternoon after a car stop went bad, police sources reported.

Two of the officers were gunned down outside their patrol car after they pulled over a car in the 7400 block of MacArthur Boulevard, not far from the Eastmont Town Center. Another officer reported was shot while in pursuit of the suspect. It was not clear where the fourth officer was shot. A suspect was later reported to also have been shot.

Local news says the perp has been killed after barricading himself in a complex.

Coroner has been called to the hospital, no official confirmation of conditions of officers.

First reports of the incident came from a 911 call at 1:16 p.m., reporting that two officers had been shot, possibly with an assault-type rifle.

sad, but doesn't CA have some of the strictest gun laws in the nation? I thought it was against the law to have a gun in your car.....

That particular part of Oakland is not that bad ( close to Berkeley Hills and Oakland Hills). And sad to say the real sewer is jsut up the road known as The Iron Triangle in RIchmond. Cops don’t patrol there. They only go if responding to a murder scene or a SWAT call

This is from a station on the east coast. I am in the SF Bay Area. KPIX, the station cited has the NCAA on right now. The other stations are NOT reporting they are dead, but that they are critical.
The stop happened about 1:30 and two cops were shot then. Later, they got an anonymous tip where the gunman was. About 3:30 PM, the SWAT team went in. The other two cops shot were with the SWAT team. SWAT killed the gunman. They still have 10 blocks closed off That is about the worst part of Oakland, about 1000-1500 feet east of the Coliseum and Oracle Arena.
