There is a great book published back in the late 70s or early 80s named Mig Pilot, by Viktor Belenko. He was the Soviet pilot who stole the MIG-29 and flew it to japan.
After he was debriefed he was given a private aircraft to use and was allowed to travel around the US unrestricted.
The last chapter he write about our poor living better than most "middle class" people in the Communist countries and better than most everyone in third world countries.
His description of how our "poor" were fat from eating while real starving people had bloated bellies from actual starvation in many countries.
That book helped turned me completely from EVER voting for another Democrat or liberal (including RINOs) again.
Was he the guy who raved on the food the Japanese had brought him and asked the name of the "gourmet" restaurant, when it was in fact ordinary Japanese fast food from across the street?
(I LOVE Japanese food, weird as it is.)
