In the last week, there's been confusion over my role in limiting excessive compensation and AIG bonuses. With so many conflicting reports about this whole matter, I wanted to take this opportunity to set the record straight.
[Skip to the nut of it]
This past Tuesday, I misunderstood a question in a television interview about whether I inserted a date to protect AIG and I answered that I most certainly did not. When I saw that my comments had been misconstrued, I felt it important to set the record straight that this had nothing to do with AIG.
I repeat: Had I known at the time that this administration-proposed change would in any way protect AIG bonuses, I would have rejected it completely.

Liberals love to talk about "Learning Moments". I think this is an excellent opportunity for one.
Instead of lighting bonfires in front of executive's homes---and in light of Obama's demand for "accountability"---I'd like to see us press for the following reforms.
1. Any Congressman or cabinet official who wants to blame "staff" must produce the staff person for open interviews. (They DO work for us, ya know).
2. A congressman is PERSONALLY responsible for any legislative language submitted in his name. Whether he or his staff present it, HIS name is on it. Don't blame staff.
3. "I didn't have time to read it" will not be tolerated as an excuse. If you submit it, read it first.
4. The same "accountability" applies to ALL submissions, such as financial disclosures. If a disclosure is later found to be incomplete or inaccurate, then the Congressman has forfeited privacy restrictions. A) If he blames it on staff, the staff person must be named and presented for questioning by the press. And B) all related materials---taxes, deeds, contracts, etc---must be revealed in order to determine whether the lapse was due to incompetence or chicanery...neither of which is particularly appetizing to a pol. (IOW, maybe there would be fewer "mistakes".)
Actually, it's just starting to become clear. Which of course is why he has 'splainin' to do.
First there is a mountain
Then there is no mountain

Why can't they stop stealing slick willies lines and make up lies of their own/
Is it fair that the liberal media prints a campaign advertisement for Chris Dodd, free of charge? Shouldn’t they give equal space to his GOP challenger? We need a fairness doctrine here.
You supplied the confusion, doofus.
I repeat: Had I known at the time that this administration-proposed change would in any way protect AIG bonuses, I would have rejected it completely.
Anyone with two brain cells can read the pertinent section and easily figure out it's meaning.
Dodd.....THREE HOUSES....an estate in IRELAND.....life-long "PUB:IC SERVANR".....how did he get the money to buy and maintain three homes???
Dodd got the MOST MONEY from AIG!!!! He's a CROOK.
And it stands the reason that after lying for so long and no one catching it, you think, boy am I good. And then one day, people decide to read the bill ... Hey that's the beauty of having the media parrot on your shoulder.
Besides. you can always say hey, I misspoke, right. What's a Dodd amendment, you might say.
OK, question for the class. Dodd wasn't a member of the conference committee, and wasn't behind closed doors. So was it really Ried who did the dirty deed in Dodd’s stead? You-hoo, Harry care to step forward and clarify?
Since there were no Republicans allowed in the conference at the secret location, we know it wasn't them.
Congress is a disgrace to America.

"I mis-underestimated how fed up the public is with my lies, double-dealing and deceit and I mis-overestimated the ability of the media to bury this story and to cover up for me. I'm sorry if anyone is thin skinned enough to be offended by what I said. If you don't want to be offended in the future just mind your own business."
We have got to get better collectively at spotting this and get on top of stories like this sooner.
“This past Tuesday, I misunderstood a question in a television interview about whether I inserted a date to protect AIG and I answered that I most certainly did not. When I saw that my comments had been misconstrued, I felt it important to set the record straight that this had nothing to do with AIG.”
Mr. Dodd you are a sob liar. They always use this I mis understood blah blah blah. You knew exactly what you said.
I wish the media could figure this out.
Why should “staff members” remain anonymous? They WORK FOR US! If we had a halfway decent media they would park themselves outside his (and Geithner’s) office until the offending “staffer” is produced. Since we know they’re lying about the staffers, this would strip them of that avenue of deception. AGAIN, if the media were interested in avoiding deception, they would have thought of this themselves.
The AIG thing isn’t even what angers me so much. It’s the financial disclosure “mistakes” that make me so mad. Oh, and throw in lies they tell in their campaign disclosures. They’re always allowed to blame it on “staff error”. I’m sick of it. More sunshine...now!
I offer up the first group of names
Mr Charles Schumer(pol) and Mrs Iris Weinschall(NYC-DOT)
Mrs Rosa DeLauro(pol) and Mr Stanley Greenberg(Dem pollster) and Rahm Emanuel(pol)(Homesteader) A ménage à trois
Mrs Susan Rice(UN Ambassador) and Mr Ian Cameron(Canadian journalist, executive producer of ABCs This Week with George Stephanopoulos).
The list and the beat goes on....
Soory excuse for a man.
No kidding! We want names of so-called staffers, then hunt them down and maybe a bus tour of their homes.
The AIG bonus’s are mouse nuts compared to the $3-6 Trillion dollar bait-and-switch socialism this administration is ramming down the taxpayer’s throat.
The chinless, repugnant Dodd is so completely corrupt that he may pull out all the stops and IOU’s from his smarmy pals (Ted the swimmer) to stay in the Senate. His 30 years of “service” has resulted in his own personal wealth and an incredible sense of entitlement and arrogance. I hope he leaves the Senate and is put in prison where he belongs.
