Confusion Reigns as Tradition Decays

According to an article in the Boston Globe, an informal poll taken among 200 teenagers has revealed that almost half of them blame the pop star Rihanna for her recent beating, allegedly by her boyfriend, Chris Brown.

It's just one survey. But it's very bad news. And feminists are to blame.

I don't say that to bash Gloria Steinem or whomever the most easily blamed feminist would be at this point. I say it so we can collectively get our heads out of the feminist fog in which we've been lost.

I appreciate the kids wanting Rihanna to take some responsibility for her situation. She's an adult, after all, as is Brown. If Rihanna is getting beaten, she should get the heck away from the person responsible. And as a best-selling artist, she has the financial freedom to extricate herself from her trouble. But where's the outrage over what Brown is accused of doing? There's something off when so many people blame the victim, not the aggressor.

As one male reader e-mailed me: "The only times I can remember my father hitting me was for fighting with my sisters. I resented it as a child, but I told my father, shortly before he died at age 90, that it was the best life lesson he taught me of many."

He added: "I am stunned by the number of women, young and old, abused by men. There isn't a hell hot enough for men responsible for the injustice of abusing women." Now there's an appropriate reaction!

What has happened -- and what Rihanna and Chris have to do with Gloria -- is that by inventing oppression where there is none and remaking woman in man's image, the sexual and feminist revolutions have confused everyone.

If a man abuses a woman then the man should no longer be free and he is a dumb ass coward or even could be a total non human. It is a shame that the present day teens do not understand that men do not abuse women.

This does not surprise me with the kids these days paying homage to the INCREDIBLY destructive hip-hop culture. Nothing good comes out of kids idolizing “artists” who promote rape, drug use/running, murder, general violence, thuggery, etc...

What can you say when feminists find fathers unnecessary and then fatherless kids beat the hell out of women.

Concur—but the woman should also have enough smarts to exit the situation permanently. For whatever reason, many women don’t. I can personally remember three (3) cases of women I knew in abusive relationships who made comments along the line that they have no attraction to guys who are “too nice”. I’ve heard numerous other women saying something like “a bad ass makes a girl’s heart beat faster”. In my mind, women with these attitudes invite trouble and are partially to blame for their plight.

As a security guard at a “spring break” resort I am appalled anew every year at the utterly loose morals of American young womanhood and at their total conviction that they have to give themselves to lots of men to show themselves that they are authentic independent women. I see them beaten and otherwise abused as a matter of course and no males feel any necessity to defend them. I interfered in an attempted kidnap/forcible rape two nights ago and the female involved and her roommates refused to say anything to the police. They didn’t want to cause the perp to lose his dream of being in the NFL. I have lost my capacity for sympathy. “Independence” has turned girls/women into community property for males who have lost any notion of being men beyond rutting, drinking, and football. I would bet that the 3 months after Spring Break is far the most profitable quarter for the baby killers at Planned Parenthood.

You and I will probably be villified and we’ll NEVER make it to feminazi heaven, but I agree with you.

The FIRST time he raises his hand to her, he should go to jail if she doesn’t shoot him. The SECOND time he raises his hand to her, she gets no sympathy from me.

With the caveat that if she left the abusive situation and he stalked and found her, is still on him, not her.

Much of this is also discussed as a “black thang”—you know, part of the “culture”

In fact if key portions of OJ’s dream team weren’t roasting in hell now-Brown could hire them. No doubt, they would intone that Brown’s actions were a legacy of slavery and segregation, and should be mitigated because of that.(leaving aside the fact that Brown was born in 1989, has earned tens of million dollars for his off-key caterwauling and was driving a Lamborghini when beating his girlfriend who has made millions of her own for her off-key caterwauling.)

When people act badly-and they then tell you they are right and you are wrong-that you can “never understand them”-you “wouldn’t understand” etc.... Where do you go from there in terms of discourse?

You don’t.

From looking up historical records at one state jail you are correct, but I hope it is not all of the females:

No, not all, but enough. Luckily there are some sane ones out there (like my wife). I’ve found that the most important characteristic in a mate is Sanity.

The beater is responsible for the first, The beatee is responsible for all the subsequent ones. Drama queens and those who cause unnecessary torment are playing with fire.
