Murphy outraises Tedisco

Democrat Scott Murphy outraised Republican Jim Tedisco in the run-up to the March 31 special election, according to newly-released FEC fundraising reports.

Murphy raised $900,000, and supplemented that total with a $250,000 loan to his campaign. Tedisco raised $830,000 and put in $200,000 of his own money.

Murphy reported $444,000 on hand in his campaign account, while Tedisco banked $467,000. The reports cover the period between January 1 and March 11; the candidates weren’t selected until February.

In a sign of the national attention the special election is receiving, Tedisco’s campaign received checks from the Michigan, Indiana and New Mexico Republican parties. Many GOP members of Congress also donated to his campaign.

Murphy also received support from much of the Democratic conference. And he received $235,000 from ActBlue, an online clearinghouse for individuals to donate money to progressive candidates across the country.

UPDATE: Some more notable donors to Tedisco: Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell's leadership PAC ($5,000), NRSC chairman John Cornyn ($2,000), former senator Alfonse D'Amato ($2,300), Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour ($5,000), and the state parties in Colorado, Delaware, Kentucky, Ohio and Wisconsin (in addition to those above).

And the Freedom Project has given a combined $20,000 to both Tedisco's campaign and a joint fundraising committee with the NRCC.

Murphy's most notable donors: The Congressional Black Caucus PAC ($5,000), House Speaker Nancy Pelosi ($4,000) and Kirsten Gillibrand's Senate campaign committee ($4,000).

Every Republican in the country should be campaigning for Jim Tedisco. This is a majority Republican district and we should be able to win it.

On March 31st, it will be about the margin of victory. Can Tedisco win by a margin of more than 10%? If so, it will be a very good win. Anything less than that, it will be ridiculed.

I would be happy for any victory, considering what poor shape the anti-socialist opposition is in now.

“Anything less than that, it will be ridiculed. “

That’s hyperbolic. The story will be “GOP gains seat” if it’s 5 points of 20.

The bigger the win, the more rhetorical bullets in puts in our chamber but the important thing is gaining the seat, one closer to 218.

“Every Republican in the country should be campaigning for Jim Tedisco.”

Absolutely. The Special Elections are our only chances to get a conservative in Congress before the General Elections.

Obama, and the Dem-controlled Congress, are taking over the country with socialism.

Tedisco is a leader and a fighter, and that’s just what we need, especially now.
