Court Suspends Carry in National Parks

Thursday, March 19, 2009

Today, a federal district court in Washington, D.C. granted anti-gun plaintiffs a preliminary injunction against implementation of the new rule allowing concealed carry in national parks and national wildlife refuges.

Until further notice, individuals cannot legally carry loaded, concealed firearms for personal protection in national parks and wildlife refuges.

The court did grant NRA's motion to intervene in the cases. Under federal law, NRA is entitled to an immediate appeal, and NRA will exercise that right.

"Just as we did not give up the fight to change the old, outdated rule, we will not give up our fight in the courts to defend the rule change," said NRA chief lobbyist Chris W. Cox. "We will pursue every legal avenue to defend the American people's right to self-defense."

I've done nothing for the last 15 years other than work to get Rs elected and advance the conservative movement.

Those two don't always go together. Already folks are touting Romney as the only answer in 2012 and if that proves to be the party's decision, I will leave the part and become an independent. I would much rather see Huckabee/Palin with either at the top of the ticket. I would like to know in what specific POLITICAL issues Palin fails to qualify as a conservative. Please, no knee jerk outbursts of a personal nature. These can be social or fiscal issues.

Her children need a mom, and with them is where she belongs.

I'll bet you're thinking barefoot and pregnant, too. You know, when my dad took ill with what came to be known as Altzeimer's Disease, my MOM stepped in to his engineering firm where he was CEO and tried to run it. She was unsuccessful largely to the resistance of the male engineers that worked there. Then she came out of retirement as the disease ate him away and she worked full time as a teacher (after already having retired from teaching, once) and still took care of my sisters and myself. My older sisters looked after me and mom looked after us all, but she was not there quite a bit. This was the 1970s. She nearly killed herself but she ... we ALL did this thing because it was necessary. We all turned out great and mom passed away in 1998, feeling like she was golden and her kids were well able to provide for themselves and their families.

She is a wildly successful governor and beloved by the folks in her state (RATs notwithstanding). She is a commander in chief and her state has the only full time ready alert warning system against an over the pole attack from folks who used to comprise the USSR and may do so again at any moment.

That she failed in SOME not all of her interviews should be laid on her "handlers." She should have simply been unleashed to be herself. I don't think she'll make that mistake again. In fact, I think that having been ambushed by the press this time will forge her into a much better candidate next time around. She may surprise you, IF you allow it without letting your misogynistic sexist ideas cloud your judgment.

She can't speak. She will never have the confidence of the general electorate.

It's unconscionable to have a president who knows less about domestic and foreign policy than *I* do.

Get over it - she's done.

For the record, I supported/volunteered for/worked for/donated to Romney and like him for 2012 - though I like my gov Sanford better at this point.

At least he could complete a sentence, hold a press conference, and had actually done something professionally in his life (other than look decent in a bating suit).

Also notice that he has 5 sons - all married - and no bastard grandchildren. IE - he did not fail as a parent. And that he didn't really get into the political game until his kids were mostly adults.

Palin is an uneducated dolt and supremely unqualified. She will try to run in 2012 and say something stupid in the first week or two of the campaign, and it will be over.

I carry anyway. Always have.

Thank you, thank you. A thousand times thank you.

First rule of carrying:

KEEP YOUR DAMNED MOUTH SHUT!

Tis a sublime exercise in self-discipline that.

A second thought I find of value:

If you do not have a metal detector, I do not have a gun.

Exactly. I do not have a gun. Therefore, I couldn’t come to the aid of a Tree Narc under attack. Or anyone else. Self defense is just that.

The way things are going the Park Rangers are going to be replaced with TV cameras and squawking kiosks anyway.

I carry anyway. Always have.

Always easier to beg forgiveness than seek permission...

and

Better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6!

Kinda hard to miss if you're hiking in shorts and a t shirt on a hot day. I've got to find out what they consider national parks around here, as I intend to take my dog exploring trails this summer. Heck, we get cougars that stalk the resident herd of elk in my neighborhood, not to mention numerous packs of coyotes that have stalked us on night walks and regularly have get togethers in my yard.

I'm about due to send a check to the NRA, this'd be a good time.
