Maria Shriver says President Barack Obama's joke comparing his poor bowling score to that of a Special Olympics athlete was hurtful, although she is sure he didn't mean it that way.
California's first lady issued a statement Friday, a day after the president made the gaffe on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Obama later called Maria's brother, Special Olympics Chairman Tim Shriver, to apologize.
The siblings' mother, Eunice Kennedy-Shriver, founded the Special Olympics and has championed the rights of the mentally retarded.

What IS it with Dems? Not that long ago, Al Gore also made an insensitive ‘extra chromosome’ remark. The day will never come that any Republican could ever get away with such a statement.

I'm sure Obama meant it in a hurtful, negative, nasty way. I'm also sure that it's okay with liberals if other liberals are vicious, just as it was okay for Clinton to abuse women in private as long as he followed the NOW agenda in public.
Every moment of former Senator Obama's public life disgusts me; I just hope he finds a cute (or chubby) intern soon to take his mind off of destroying the country.

Imagine that McCain had won the election, and he had said this? What would the media be saying now? I really can’t imagine it because John McCain, for all his faults, would never have said this, heck even Hillary Clinton would not have said this.
