LAWRENCE — The four police officers at the Golden House Restaurant never got to open their fortune cookies.
And it certainly wasn't good fortune that Anthony Whitcomb allegedly tried to rob the Chinese restaurant while the four officers were having dinner there Wednesday night.

I recall a few years ago a guy tried to rob a restaurant which was hosting an FBI convention. The room was full of FBI agents.

That makes sense. I recall reading that during the Johnson presidency, there were more FBI agents assigned to the Klan than there was members of the Klan.
Whitcomb struggled violently with the officers but was eventually subdued and put into the back of a police cruiser, police said.
He was taken to the police station to be booked and was later taken to Lawrence General Hospital for treatment of a broken nose and facial cuts.
In the local Chinese restaurant you pay when you come in.
